Adam West and Burt Ward to reprise roles for the Batman 66 animated movie

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Holy retro coolness, Batman! In celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the classic TV series, actors Adam West and Burt Ward will reprise their iconic roles as Batman and Robin for the animated feature film BATMAN '66. Based on the comic series of the same name, BATMAN '66 tells new stories set during the campy live action series that many of you likely watched growing up.

West and Ward made the announcement at the Mad Monster Party in North Carolina this last weekend. Whether the film will be based on the comics or an original story is unknown, but this is a very cool treat in conjunction with the release of the new take on the Dark Knight in Zack Snyder's BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, also debuting next year.

We often forget about the lighter side of Batman since we have been stooped in the Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan iterations of the character for three decades. But, even the fan favorite Batman: The Animated Series kept some of the cheeky humor of the 1966 version of the DC Comics icon. West and Ward have lent their voices to a lot of projects over the last fifty years, including LEGO Batman 3. If this show can be half as fun as that game, we are in for a treat next year.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE opens on March 25, 2016.
