Adam West and Burt Ward return in trailer for the new animated Batman movie

Adam West Burt Ward Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders

Batman has existed for many decades and has been played by a variety of different actors over the years, but almost everyone is familiar with Adam West's campy portrayal of the character in the classic 1960's Batman television series. In celebration of the the show's fiftieth anniversary, both Adam West and Burt Ward will be reprising their roles of Batman and Robin for BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS, a new animated feature which follows the spirit of the 60's series. Entertainment Weekly has released the first trailer for the new flick and it actually looks like it could be rather fun.

"Holy entrée, Batman!"

Also appearing in BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS will be Julie Newmar, who will reprise her role as Catwoman. Joker, Riddler and Penguin will also pop up, but it's not known who will be voicing those characters as Cesar Romero, Frank Gorshin and Burgess Meredith have all passed on. With many of the current Batman stories pumping up the the grit and darkness, I imagine that it will be refreshing to return to Adam West's goofier, but still cool, take on the Dark Knight.

BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS will be released on Digital HD on October 11, 2016 and on Blu-ray on November 1, 2016.

Awesome!! DC is king of animated movies, their live action ones suck though

DC has made some awesome animated movies. The animated Suicide Squad movie was 100x better than the trash we got. They can somehow make great animated movies and yet their live action ones suck ass and are trying too hard to be Dark Knight still.

Seems like a joke they've taken a bit too far, to me.
It's cool in a way, giving props to the 1960s Batman cast, but I don't know what appeal this could have as a 'feature-length' animation. I guess it's the show's 50th anniversary year, but you can hear how old Adam West is in his voice. Maybe they should have got him to voice a Batman '66 version of The Dark Knight Returns instead.
I'm not sure - torn between it being a nice homage and an overly elaborate gag.

I think it might be somewhat like TV's Batman The Brave and The Bold.

See I love Batman The Brave And The Bold. It's one of my favorite takes on animated Batman. I can't tell for sure about this version though.

I welcome Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. DC Animation is copiously providing us fans with Batman entertainment this year, and the studio is exploring all sorts of legends of the Dark Knight. Variety is good. And, this adventure looks more adult-oriented than the Lego Batman but more whimsical than the typical DC Animation (or certainly than Killing Joke). Furthermore, I am glad to see WB allowing Adam West to play the Caped Crusader again, after the legal battle many years

However, I find West's line-reading strangely flat in this promo. Obviously, he can be more emotive; look at Family Guy. But, a person might get used to the flat reading and not notice it too much during a Return of the Caped Crusaders viewing.

Netforce beat me to it but the animation is definitely better than the Killing Joke. I gotta admit, its gonna be dumb, but probably gonna be a hell of alot of fun. IFC was running all the old Batman series nightly. I watched it all again and I gotta admit it was a nice change of pace. grew up watching them and they still brought a smile to my face.

Thanks for the support, man. To me, The Killing Joke was a huge missed opportunity. It could have been much better.
