Adam Wingard’s Godzilla vs Kong adds Lance Reddick

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

It was just yesterday that we passed along the badass news that director Adam Wingard's (THE GUEST, YOU'RE NEXT) GODZILLA VS. KONG has begun shooting, and even went so far as to provide you guys with an official synopsis that goes a little something like this:

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

Well, if all of yesterday's GODZILLA VS. KONG news wasn't cool enough, today we have word that Mr. Lance Reddick has joined the film's cast! For those of you out there keeping score, that mean's Wingard's new film now stars Alexander Skarsgard, Rebecca Hall, Kyle Chandler, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Eiza Gonzalez, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Demian Bichir, Millie Bobby Brown, and Reddick!

As cool as the cast of this film already is, it's Reddick that I'm most excited about. From roles in such classics as JOHN WICK, JOHN WICK CHAPTER 2, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, THE GUEST, LOST, and THE WIRE Reddick is one of my favorite actors out there and I'm happy as hell to hear he's now part of Wingard's epic monster mash. Bring it on!

FUN BIT OF TRIVIA: Reddick had an uncredited role in director Roland Emmerich's GODZILLA as "Soldier on Manhattan Bridge." Wonder if he's reprising that role in this new movie. Haha?

The sequel to 2014's GODZILLA, GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, and last year's KONG: SKULL ISLAND was written by Terry Rossio. Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Eric McLeod, and Brian Rogers are producing with Kenji Okuhira, Yoshimitsu Banno, Jon Jashni, and Thomas Tull serving as executive producers and Jay Ashenfelter, Jen Conroy, and Tamara Kent co-producing.

GODZILLA VS. KONG will be released in 3D and 2D, and in select IMAX theatres, on May 22, 2020.
