Adams wants to Fight | Movie News
Now that she's blasted onto the A-list , blue-eyed firetop Amy Adams is getting involved with more high-profile projects.
Adams is thinking about putting up her delicate dukes for THE FIGHTER, the troubled movie that will look at the lives of boxer "Irish" Mickey Ward (Mark Wahlberg) and his older half-brother and trainer (Christian Bale), chronicling their early days in a tough Massachusetts neighborhood on through drug problems and an eventual world championship. Adams would play the bartender who falls for Mickey.
The project has been knocked around the gym a few times -- it started as a Darren Aronofsky pet project with Matt Damon and Brad Pitt, before they all ultimately exited the ring.
Now director/instigator David O. Russell (THREE KINGS, I HEART HUCKABEES) is behind the camera, so personality explosions and black eyes aplenty are expected, along with who knows what kind of snags (his last film NAILED stopped and restarted production several times due to financial issues).

Extra Tidbit: Adams took over for Sarah Michelle Gellar in the CRUEL INTENTIONS prequel (aka MANCHESTER PREP).

I'm a production assistant in the Boston area. I'm friends with the key who was hiring and I've worked with him before.

I was interested initially when Damon and Wahlberg were gonna reteam under Aronofsky, especially cuz both actors are Irish from Massachusetts, which just makes good sense. Pitt's fine, but the project seemed to stall after that. Now my only issue is can Christian Bale convince us he's Mark Wahlberg's older brother? Probably, but it's still a little odd.

My previous excitement for this flick, which was largely due to the involvement of Mr. Aronofsky, has dipped inredibly now that Russell is directing. And I would much rather see the Pitt/Damon team up over the Bale/Wahlberg one. Marky Mark just doesn't have much talent.
