Haven't seen La La Land yet nor Manchester by the Sea, but I'm really excited to see Hell or High Water, and Arrival on this list considering they are two of my favorite films of the year.

Also recently saw Nocturnal Animals as well and thought that would have been another good selection for this list.

Zootopia is one of the most overrated films of recent memory. A forced, confused and overbearing message with lame and dated humor.

While I fully disagree with you in every way, I don't think it should have been selected over Moana, if any Disney animated movie needed to be chosen. They are both really good movies, but Moana, in my opinion, is better.

But again, couldn't disagree with you more. You just seem like a contrarian. Nothing confused about the message, and nothing wrong with it. It's about the dangers of discrimination and how fear can threaten society. That transcends politics. As for forced, how? It was

I agree. I don't really see what the big deal was with Zootopia. I know what they were trying to achieve, but in all honesty I got really bored watching it and didn't even bother finishing it.

TheSoloist, you got bored by Zootopia? By the colorful, action packed animated movie?
Watch Satantango. Then you'll rephrase how boring a movie could be.

Also, BrokenDreamer: I don't think Moana is better. The music is, but not the script.

So, as weird it might sound, the local arthouse cinema hosted a showing of this with a moderated discussion by a panel of indie filmmakers afterward, most of whom passionately argued that this was one of the all-time great animated films (and a Pakistani -- I think -- director who argues it was one of the all-time great films on race relations) and I've got to say that I was pretty won over by their arguments. I definitely think that there's more substance to analyze below the surface than any

I definitely think that there's more substance to analyze below the surface than any other Disney Animation project (although some of the better Pixar films give it a clear run for its money). I for one am very, very happy to see this on the list. Bring on the hate, but I think it's a lot better than Up or Finding Nemo or some of the other Pixar films that appeared on slews of "Best of the Year" lists.
