Back on August 1st, we shared the news that director Darren Lynn Bousman's next contribution to the horror genre will be DEATH OF ME, which is currently filming in Thailand with Maggie Q and Luke Hemsworth in the lead roles. The next day, we reported that Alex Essoe of STARRY EYES had joined the cast of DOCTOR SLEEP, Mike Flanagan's upcoming sequel to THE SHINING.

Now the folks over at Bloody Disgusting have revealed that Essoe is taking on a role in DEATH OF ME before she starts working on DOCTOR SLEEP.

Set on an exotic island, DEATH OF ME has been described as "THE WICKER MAN meets THE GAME". Q and Hemsworth play

a couple on holiday wake up with no recollection of what transpired the night before. They find a video that shows them as willing participants in a ritual that inexplicably ends with him murdering her…

Essoe's character is an Airbnb owner who becomes an ally to the couple as they try to figure out what the hell is going on.

Financed by Media Finance Capital, Samuel Marshall Productions, and Envision Media Arts, DEATH OF ME was written by Ari Margolis, James Morley III, and David Tish. Tish is producing the film with Lee Nelson and Charles Dorfman. David Buelow, David Gilbery, Michael Klein, Christopher D'Elia, Tannaz Anisi, and Greg Schenz serve as executive producers.

I was already interested in DEATH OF ME, but now that I've heard THE WICKER MAN and THE GAME comparisons, and especially now that I know Essoe is in the cast, I'm looking forward to it even more.

We'll keep you updated on DEATH OF ME as more information is made available.
