Almodovar and Cruz AGAIN

They're the Spanish version of Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio and they're ready to start working together again. Pedro Almodovar and Penelope Cruz are set to reteam on an upcoming untitled original project. The news sets aside LA PIEL QUE HABITO, which was scheduled to be his next. Cruz would star in this new film with Blanca Portillo and Lluis Homar who starred in VOLVER and BAD EDUCATION respectively. It probably doesn't matter to Cruz which project goes ahead first because she was also set to star in PIEL before it got delayed. It's unclear what this new project is about but Almodovar said "The new story has characters from a universe which is familiar to me and makes me feel more involved." PIEL was an adaptation of the French novel "Mygale" about a doctor who kidnaps and tortures the man who raped his daughter. Yikes, not exactly the feel good movie of the year. Almodovar spoke of the new project while at the Tuesday premiere of the stage version of ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER in London. Cruz can be seen next alongside Adrien Brody in MANOLETE and recently wrapped filming on Woody Allen's untitled Barcelona project.

Extra Tidbit: Cruz is also in talks to join the musical NINE for director Rob Marshall (CHICAGO).
