Amanda Bynes retires from acting at 24?

Huh, well this is…something. A little while ago I wrote that Amanda Bynes was one of the last Disney-bred actresses who hadn’t turned into a party girl, and might actually have a legitimate career for a while to come. This was just after she was cast in the Farley brothers’ HALL PASS along with Owen Wilson, Stephen Merchant, Christina Applegate, Jenna Fischer and Alyssa Milano.

Well, it appears that career is something Bynes doesn’t actually want, and she recently just announced her retirement via Twitter, like all the cool kids are doing these days. Her last few tweets:

I’ve never written the movies & tv shows I’ve been apart of I’ve only acted like the characters the producers or directors wanted me to play

Being an actress isn’t as fun as it may seem

If I don’t love something anymore I stop doing it

I don’t love acting anymore so I’ve stopped doing it

I know 24 is a young age to retire but you heard it here first I’ve #retired

Oh man, she even hashtagged it! You know it’s serious!

What sparked this change of heart? The first statement would indicate her roles aren’t exactly what she’s been wishing for, but I don’t think she’s done too poorly for herself over the years. I believe she’s already finished shooting on EASY A with Emma Stone, but I’m not sure what this means for HALL PASS.

Is this legit? If so, will you miss her?
