AMC orders 15 episodes for season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead

Last Updated on July 22, 2021

When THE WALKING DEAD made its debut on AMC in 2010, its first season was just 6 episodes long. The episode count was more than doubled for its second season, which consisted of 13 episodes. Its companion series, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD, will be following its example with a 6 episode first season and a longer second one, but it’s getting an even bigger boost in the second season episode count than its predecessor did.

During the Television Critics Association Press Tour, AMC announced that they have ordered 15 episodes for FEAR THE WALKING DEAD season 2, which is expected to air in the summer of 2016.

Before we can get too excited about the extra episodes we’ll be getting next year, we have to see if we like FEAR THE WALKING DEAD’s characters and story in the first place. The series premiere is set to air on AMC on the night of Sunday, August 23rd.

Produced by AMC Studios and executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero, David Alpert, and showrunner David Erickson, FEAR THE WALKING DEAD stars Kim Dickens, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ruben Blades, Mercedes Mason, Lorenzo James Henrie, Shawn Hatosy, and Colman Domingo. The official synopsis:

“Fear the Walking Dead” is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family. Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) and English teacher Travis Manawa (Cliff Curtis) have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down. A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and our dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

It’s pretty much a guarantee that I’ll be tuning in to watch every episode of this show that AMC airs. Will you?
