AMC theaters have started to pre-sell Dark Knight Rises tickets in select cities

Jan. 11, 2012by:

I'm not sure how many of you are looking forward to THE DARK KNIGHT RISES this summer ( I jest), but apparently someone over at the AMC cinema offices picked up on the fact that fanboys like to get in on movie screenings as early as possible, as they have started to sell opening night midnight screening tickets in a handful of major cities across the country already, according to SlashFilm. For now, the tickets seem limited to cities like San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles, but let's see how this plays out.

As it turns out, some AMC theater managers polled some fanboys back in December of 2011, when they were showing the 6-minute prologue from TDKR before the IMAX showing of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL, and it turns out that many of them claimed to be interested in purchasing TDKR tickets way in advance (seriously folks, how did nobody pick up on this before today??). Needless to say, the midnight showings in those cities were sold out in an instant, even though the film technically won't be released until July 20th. So you see fanboys... we can make a difference in the world of movies. The image above is a picture of an early New York TDKR ticket purchase. Do you like this new option to buy tickets early?

Just an FYI to those of you buying midnight showings: IMAX has begun releasing big new releases the day before the actual release date for a 6 or 8:00 showing. They just recently did this with MI4. You may want to wait and see.

You know what this means: massive disappointment.
Nothing can live up to this kind of expectation.

Like the Phantom Menace and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystall Skull.
Look, I'm as big a fan of the first two films as there is. I love Nolan's work.
Although anticipation for Dark Knight was high, it didn't quite reach this level.
And we have to keep in mind that the original story for this film was scrapped when Heath Ledger died.
Not saying it won't be good, but I am saying that many will be disappointed because their expectations are just too high.

I saw TDK on the first midnight showing. That was the last time I ever did a midnight showing because I'm 25 and getting too old for that now lol. It was full of annoying kids and I was so tired it was hard to concentrate. I've learned my lesson.

If it's AMC, can it be true IMAX? I was under the impression that IMAX runs their true IMAX theaters. After seeing the true IMAX preview, it's pretty much required to see the film in a true IMAX theater to get the full effect.

what if someone who bought a ticket for july's midnight screenings and months before the release (lets say one month) the person or persons who bought the tickets end up dying, either by accident,suicide,murder,etc.. what would happen to said persons tickets, just a thought ,theories anyone.for example what if you bought a ticket and end up dying or if your friend already has a ticket and dies tragicly, would you steal his ticket.

Believe it, man >.< If it weren't for a year that's chock-full of my most anticipated movies in a longg time, I wouldn't be wasting my money at anyy theaters. Even though I kinda wanted to see it, it meant i had to sacrifice watching MI4 in imax just because I mostly wanted to see TDKR prologue...this is the sad age where the only reason good enough to go to the theaters is to actually watch the movie =/

Can You Imagine...

Can you imagine how pissed these fanboys are gonna get when the release date is moved forward to Wednesday 07/18???

I'm claiming to have insider info or anything, I just now it has happened in the past and will probably happen here as well.
