An Air Guitar movie

I got a fever, and the only prescription is…more air guitar.

It’s really not, but it’s happening anyway. Justin Theroux (writer, director, all around bad-ass) is producing a movie titled AIR GUITAR. The film will be set in the world of air guitar competitions and feature the colorful characters that participate in them. This is definitely not a documentary, as there was already one in 2006 called AIR GUITAR NATION.

GUITAR is being penned by Nate Reger and Mike Lisbe. Both writers have done some television writing here and there, but nothing too notable. They were actually producers on the show JUST SHOOT ME. The film was originally set up with Dreamworks but is now over at Paramount.

I don’t find air guitar very interesting, but it can be quite funny. Then again, it’s only funny for so long. I’m sure they’ll put an eclectic cast that will make up some sort of ragtag group that will compete together in the competition. Or it will be one of those things were the main character looks like a pathetic loser for doing air guitar then becomes this awesome hero at the end. I sort of picture a cast much like the one from DODGEBALL.

Theroux always has something appealing going on. It’s too bad he isn’t writing this one. I loved TROPIC THUNDER. Even though I’m not in love with the idea, it might turn out pretty decent as they continue planning.
