An even bigger party is on the way - the sequel to Project X is already in motion

After being made for a mere (in Hollywood terms) $12 million and earning over $21 million in its opening weekend, PROJECT X co-writer Michael Bacall (SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD) has already been tasked with writing the treatment for a sequel.  Whether said treatment is then turned into a script will be up to producers Todd Phillips and Joel Silver, so a sequel isn't necessarily a sure thing. Except, to be honest, it kind of is.  When has having to force a sequel to work ever stopped a studio from trying to make more money?

I personally think the only way they can adequately amp up the level of insanity for a sequel is to make "Project X-2: Mutants Gone Wild."  I'd absolutely see that in a heartbeat.

The only way to go bigger, is to go European.

How do you make a sequel to this? I don't understand. I mean, it was kind of fun for what it was, but as far as being an actual film, it was slim. It's a party. So, what, we're just going to have another party? I'm kind of hoping this one falls through.

Writing treatment. That's hilarious.
I'm picturing a post-it note that says:

- Kids party again
- Insane shit and tits
- Pick up milk

I had a blast with Project X. Was I expecting Miramax material? Hell no! I just turned my brain off and had fun watching the film with my friends and a sold out crowd. That being said, I honestly have no idea how you could take off with a sequel. To me, I think this should just be a stand-alone film. This doesn't need to be another Hangover series.

@ countem

A lot of people have qualms with Project X because it is... well... different, to say the least. A lot of these folks will say "No, it's just crap". But there's a reason for that, and that it's different. I don't know how to explain it, but I liked it. It had funny moments, but I appreciated it for its nostalgic ambitions of high school times.

To me, it works better as an experimental film. Does it try to be Oscar material? No. I think the amount of flack given to this film is

I'll admit, I thought it would be crap after I saw the trailer and before I went to it, but I came out pleased. Makes me think how many have only accomplished the former...

Now, after actually SEEING the film, do I think a sequel is necessary? No. In fact, I don't think how plausible it can be considering how implausible the ending was of the first. Yes, the ending was kind of cheese.

Great, more garbage

If this sequel does get made, I hope it bombs super hard due to the horrible taste this seemed to leave in everybody's mouth. Project X was one of the worst movies I've ever seen and I'd hate to see this dreck infest the movie theaters again.

Maybe it's just me

I'd rather just go to a real-life rager, than watch a fantasized super-sized version of one. Zero interest in this one, or the sequel. Maybe it's also having lived through too many "day afters" - the shitiness of which are usually directly proportional to the awesomeness of the party.
