If you're looking to get your zombie on, look no further than this onslaught of images from the upcoming third season of AMC's The Walking Dead, featuring a slew of never-before-seen images and some character shots, as well as a peek at the exclusive Entertainment Weekly covers.

Starring Andrew Lincoln, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Steven Yeun, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Michael Rooker and newcomers David Morrissey as the infamous Governor and Danai Gurira as Michonne, the third season is tackling the most hard-hitting story arc from the comics to date that will shake the foundation of the status quo in unimaginable ways.

“This season really is about setting up these two worlds and watching them come to a head and collide,” says exec producer Robert Kirkman. “And you know that there are going to be some pretty explosive encounters between Rick and the Governor. This season is going to be about getting to know these two characters, and then waiting for their eventual confrontation that could destroy everything.”

Prepare for the invasion:

AMC's The Walking Dead season 3 is set to premiere on October 14, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: There's a special place in hell for those that would spoil The Walking Dead. Truly.

Super excited for season 2 but...

I really think The Walking Dead needs to step it up. While I have been an avid fan thus far, Walking Dead is still pretty far from Breaking Bad and Mad Men in terms of writing (character development, thematic elements, etc.), cinematography, pacing, and acting (there are some FANTASTIC performances but also a some dodgy stuff too often). It has a lot going for it- it does wonders with its budget, with intense and meticulously coordinated action scenes and pretty damn good special effects. I

It has a lot going for it- it does wonders with its budget, with intense and meticulously coordinated action scenes and pretty damn good special effects. I still think it lacks the character the depth of other shows (Breaking Bad, for comparison to another AMC show), making any episode without crazy zombie carnage feel almost like a filler. It is understandable, though considering the shit that went down b/w Darabont and AMC. That show was stuck in a hell between to visions of the concept in season 2; season 3 is where the show truly begins. My hopes are high because I trust AMC to delver with a show that has picked up such a large and dedicated audience. Its def my fav entry into the ZOmbie mythology and I know it will never lose that title, but just hoping they take it up a notch and make it one of my favorite TV shows of all time.

looks like theyre sticking pretty close to the comic, and thats a really good thing. it'll be interesting to see if they tone the Governor down. I know they push the limits but he's way past anything Ive seen outside of HBO.
