And the final confirmed run time for The Dark Knight Rises is...

Now while this isn't new news per se, as it was confirmed back on June 4th that AMC had listed THE DARK KNIGHT RISES as clocking in at 2 hours and 45 minutes, extra sources of confirmation are always encouraging when you really (really) want something to be true.  And I really (really) wanted this something to be true, because when I sit in that theater and the lights go down, I know I'm not going to want it to end.  Which brings me to The British Board of Film Classification, which has listed THE DARK KNIGHT RISES with a final run time of 164 minutes and 27 seconds.

By way of comparison, BATMAN BEGINS was approximately 140 minutes and THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" href="../upcomingmovies/2012/the-dark-knight-rises" target="_blank">THE DARK KNIGHT approximately 152 minutes.  So now you know what you're getting in to, and while I'm sure that it will be a draining experience to endure 164 minutes of Nolan/Batman grimness... well I'm also sure that I will slowly rise up out of my seat when it's all over, worse for wear but with a wide grin on my face. In fact, I probably won't be drinking anything that day.  Don't want any dumb reason like bodily functions distracting me, right? Right.

In other news, I may have come down with Batman fever...

Always love more confirmation - can't wait!! The only thing that bothers me about long running times in cinemas are that many people load up on nachos, hot dogs and chips (crisps) for lunch/dinner while they watch, and it is damn annoying hearing the munching and rustling ... as well as all the smells. That's why I go to really late showings as the audience seems to be more dedicated film-goers.

I love Belgian theaters because they have 10 minute intermissions halfway through. This will definitely come in handy for TDKR. Although, if there is any foreign language spoken in the movie I won't be able to understand it because of Belgian/French only subtitles :/

I know, this is one big ass invite to receive a shitload of hate and thumbs down. Because one just simply CAN'T talk shit about "the best (superhero) movie ever made" A.K.A. The Dark Knight. But...

One of the few, though major flaws of The Dark Knight for me is that it's at least 15/20 minutes too long. Also that it's not so much a Batman movie as it is a Gotham city residents, villains and hero movie. Batman Begins is the better Batman movie, TDK is the better movie in general.

I just hope they put the running time to better use in TDKR. I see why they need just under 3 hours (the huge number of characters) but, as most of us know, that also could work out unfavorably.

Is seriously no one else even slightly apprehensive? The trailers so far have looked great, for an action movie, but I'm once again missing the Batman vibe that was so abundant in BB.

Don't massacre me chaps, I'm still a fan and I'm just really, really hoping that TDKR will not disappoint.

@KillB - I somewhat agree with what you're saying (BUT I wished it had been longer b/c of those issues), and I have been thinking that too much time may be spent on Catwoman. I know the quality of TDKR will not suffer with less Batman presence, but it would probably have a different feeling. I am in NO way comparing the two series at all, especially since we have not seen TDKR, but Blade Trinity was horrible because of the lack of Blade. I am in the boat of liking Begins better than TDK.

I agree with your concerns. The reason I slightly prefer Begins to Dark Knight is because of the focus on Batman/Bruce Wayne. Dark Knight is a damn good film, but so much time is spent on Gordon, Dent, and the Joker than you can't help but feel batman gets a little short-changed in the process. I hope that's not the case with TDKR, with Bane, Catwoman , and whoever JGL is playing taking too much attention away from Batman. But this is a minor complaint, and I'm sure the movie will be fantastic

Think we'll be getting some good background on Bane and Catwoman? Bane is from outside Gotham and we'll probably see some of that, and Selina is from Gotham so maybe we'll see something from the 8 years between the two films?

IMO, as long as the movie delivers, it can be 4 hours long.

I'm not going to jinx TDKR and say it's going to be the best of the three . . . but . . . I feel Nolan has done all he can do to make sure that it meets certain expectations. I feel people are going to be disappointed if they overhype TDKR too much. With that being said, I've not seen a film by Nolan that I just dislike or that I felt wasn't well-made . . . I don't expect any different now. Here's hoping that Nolan's Batman

Apparently 100 mins of the film is straight up action, that leaves about 1hr 15 min for character and plot development. Sounds like we're getting a balls to the wall batman movie. Here's to a great ending to the trilogy and another Nolan masterpiece!!
