Anna Paquin goes in for the kiss with Matt Damon in the trailer for Margaret

09.01.2011

High school is hard. You've gotta find someone to take your virginity, B- is not a good enough grade on a test, and ladies strolling babies are always getting hit by buses. Time to start writing in that journal, or blog as the kids do these days.

A trailer for MARGARET is finally seeing the light of day. The film was made way back in 2005 by Kenneth Lonergan (ANALYZE THIS). The bottom line on this issue is that it took him too damn long because he was struggling with trying to cut the film under two and a half hours. We understand it's your creation, but if the trailer is an indication it looks decent. Plus, you got a great cast: Anna Paquin, Matt Damon, Mark Ruffalo, J. Smith-Cameron, Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno.

Check out the trailer below.

Synopsis:

"MARGARET centers on a 17-year-old New York City high-school student who feels certain that she inadvertently played a role in a traffic accident that has claimed a woman's life. In her attempts to set things right she meets with opposition at every step. Torn apart with frustration, she begins emotionally brutalizing her family, her friends, her teachers, and most of all, herself. She has been confronted quite unexpectedly with a basic truth: that her youthful ideals are on a collision course against the realities and compromises of the adult world."

No thanks.

Not interested, even after I read the part about it being filmed in 2005. I can just barely stand Paquin in True Blood.

From the title on

This looks boring as hell. I'd rather see Ruffallo in his own Hulk movie.

For the record

'You Can Count On Me' is a flawless masterpiece. Definitely one of the best movies I have ever seen and Ruffalo's (and my personal favorite) best performance.

You Can Count on Me

sold me on Lonergan. I'll definitely watch this.

Can't believe it's been so long though. I remember being so excited for this... so long ago.

You Can Count on Lonergan

It's a shame that the article mentions Kenneth Lonergan with "Analyze This", which he did write, and not his lone directing effort, the incredible "You Can Count on Me". I look forward to seeing the 3-hr cut someday seeing the light of day!

Looks good.

Damon and Ruffalo look really young in this film, and I am also convinced that Ruffalo does not age.

Not since Benjamin Button have I seen familiar actors looking so much younger than I'm use to seeing them in a "new" movie. What's strange is Paquin and Damon look alot younger but Ruffalo looks about the same to me.

Is there a longer shoot-to-release length? That is an incredibly long time.
