Anne Hathaway Colossal

When a giant monster appears out of nowhere and begins wreaking havoc on some metropolis, its origins are typically shrouded in mystery; but what if the destructive actions of that giant monster were somehow connected to the actions of a drunk party girl played by Anne Hathaway? That seems to be the focus of Nacho Vigalondo's (TIME CRIMES) latest film. After losing her job and being kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend (Dan Stevens), Gloria is forced to move back to her hometown as her life continues its downward spiral. Then, the sudden emergence of a Kaiju in Seoul, South Korea leads Gloria to the realization that she is somehow connected to the creature's actions.

COLOSSAL premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and our own Chris Bumbray was on hand to view the flick, so make sure to check out his review right here.

The synopsis for COLOSSAL:

Gloria is an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and being kicked out of her apartment by her boyfriend, is forced to leave her life in New York and move back to her hometown. When news reports surface that a giant creature is destroying Seoul, South Korea, Gloria gradually comes to the realization that she is somehow connected to this far-off phenomenon. As events begin to spin out of control, Gloria must determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

COLOSSAL is set for a April 7, 2017 release.

I don't know if the concept can sustain itself, but I like frumpy Anne Hathaway, and I wouldn't mind hanging out with Tim Blake Nelson and Jason Sudeikis, geeking out about something weird halfway around the globe.

Looks interesting. But notice how in the trailer they say "monster" and the press release says "creature"? Stop it with the k-word, nerd-tards.

I just can't fathom the concept....

I won't say it's a bad idea because I can't figure out if it's trying to be a dark comedy, drama, or whatever. However, it looks insanely convoluted and stupid. Just hoping Hathaway has enough sense to attach herself to good projects because this is definitely different (which would be nice, as long as it's good).

Convoluted - (especially of an argument, story, or sentence) extremely complex and difficult to follow.
It's a chick that controls a giant monster. That's not convoluted at all, you dumbass.

Not sure what your problem is, but the idea of a drunk woman magically controlling a giant monster in Korea while she lives an otherwise ordinary life is INCREDIBLY convoluted. BTW moron, I can copy & paste too....

The movie doesn't seem very convoluted. It looks pretty straight forward.
