Anne Hathaway hops into The Shower For alien invasion flick

Raise your hand if you want to see Anne Hathaway in THE SHOWER.

The actress will be thrilled to hear that if that equates to tickets bought for the alien invasion comedy film she is now attached to star in and produce. Oh yeah… I should mention it's titled THE SHOWER.

The female-centric sci-fi comedy comes from a script written by Jac Schaeffer and sat on last year's Blacklist as one of the industry's best unproduced screenplays. Tonally the film is more in line with films like THIS IS THE END and cult favorite ATTACK THE BLOCK, centering around a group of women who find the baby shower they're at interrupted by a meteor shower that turns men into blood-thirsty aliens. Needless to say, they're going to have to take matters into their own hands in order to save themselves and, even bigger than that, the world.

Right now, THE SHOWER is in the process of putting together a package, looking to secure a director and cast before taking it to a studio or financiers.

Hathaway hasn't been in much of an ass-kicking role since her time as Catwoman… excuse me, Selina Kyle… in Christopher Nolan's Batman finale THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, so this should change that. And it's always nice to see some diversity in Hollywood with a group of women putting some boots to asses with the fate of the world at stake.

Hathaway can next be seen starring opposite Robert DeNiro in THE INTERN, which hits theaters on September 25.
