Don't act like you didn't see it coming...

Most of us remember the 2003 film version of DAREDEVIL. A lot of people were really excited (I might be stretching it here) to see the Ben Affleck take on the role of Matt Murdock. The rest of the cast consisted of Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Colin Farrell as Bullseye, Michael Clarke Duncan as Kingpin/Wilson Fisk, Jon Favreau as Franklin Nelson, and the list goes on. Mark Steven Johnson directed and wrote the film.

A lot of people were disappointed upon the film's release, but when the director's cut came out that changed some minds. So why the reboot? Deadline states that Hollywood studios with Marvel superheroes need to keep reinventing the Marvel movie franchises or the rights revert back to Disney-based Marvel.

David Scarpa (THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, THE LAST CASTLE) will be penning the screenplay.

Let the commenting begin!

Enough already!!!!!!!!
FUCK YOU FOX! FUCK YOU MARVEL! FUCK YOU KG!! FUCK YOU JB!!! (sorry)

Enough with the fucking reboots already. Own up to whatever mistakes you think you made and continue the storylines you began with. Taking too many mulligans makes you look pathetic in golf and it's the same when it comes to making movies.

Hollywood Reason for Remakes
why am i not surprise that hollywood is gearing for so many reboot because of the Disney/Marvel Merger-buy out thing? lol the first DD suck because i always though Ben Affleck was miscast. saw the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still and i wasnt completely blown away(and never even seen The Last Castle) whatever that is..meh..will have to see who they cast for matt murdoc/daredevil

Honestly, wasn't too crazy for the 2003 film and I'm happy to hear this, however, I wouldn't mind seeing Michael Clark Duncan back as Kingpin in this reboot or any other movies in the Marvel Universe

I'm sooo sick of people crapping on the DareDevil movie.. WHY? because it was Ben Affleck? Come on people. It was a great movie and he was a great DareDevil. They shouldn't make a reboot, but a sequel. Starring Ben.

Daredevil, the man without fear, obviously he never saw his own movie. Jaws kept people out of the water, the original kept me out of theatres for many of the marvel films that I was skeptical of.....

One of the worst casts for a big budget film ever compiled. All kidding aside, this movie was painful to watch. I can't honestly think of one good thing to say about the original....

So please excuse me if I'm not frothing at the mouth for a new daredevil movie. Maybe if Kevin Smith or Jon Favreau were asked to direct, maybe then I'll get excited.

So what
So what if they reboot it. You can't have Ben Affleck as Daredevil, that's absurd. And Mark Steven Johnson directed that movie; the cretin who gave us Elektra and Ghost Rider.

Oh, right... Fox is distributing this reboot. It will be garbage after all. My bad.

The first film was a crock of shyt! If they are going to reboot the film, hire a comic book writer who has screenwriting credits. Ed Brubaker just did a fantastic run on the series and I am sure he could pen a better script than the schome who penned the remake of the day the earth stood still which should have not seen the light of day. I mean really Hollywood..... when are you going to learn...

I loved the first one once I saw the Director's Cut. Affleck was a great Daredevil and he should've gotten more credit for that. I want this reboot to be awesome and do the character justice, but I also wanted a better Punisher movie and that turned out to be another POS. Making something darker or R-rated doesn't guarantee a good movie. I just hope this has a good director and actor.

The first film had some good parts and bad parts, it wasnt the cast that was the problem it was what they were given to work with. The CGI scenes were what killed it for me, CGI Daredevil seemed to have humongous feet.

The scene where Electra is training whilst Evenesence is playing has got to be up there as worst scene in any movie ever. Was so bad I bad to turn my head away, and was so close to walking out of the cinema.

So as long as there isn't a ninja training montage with an operatic nu-metal song playing over the top, it'll be an improvement.

1--The original: BAD. Please do reboot.

2--The Last Castle: Good. Really good, even. Mostly because of the cast.

3--The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake: BAD-BAD-BAD. And I had so, so much ope for it.

I'm a bit mixed on this news. Good to hear a remake could come along and more properly handle things, but half of that screenwriter's resume SUCKED. Badly.

Better writer...?
But I guess it makes sense given that the character doesn't have a whole lot of mass appeal or anything other than the comic book fans.

You'd think they'd get some of the comic book writers involved but I think that'd be too easy.

The R Rated Daredevil Director's cut is actually a very good movie. The theatrical cut was average, but the director's cut is a damn good movie. I hate it when people talk shit about MSJ's Daredevil movie. Because 9 times out of 10 those people haven't actually seen the awesome R Rated director's cut.

The MSJ Daredevil had the characters but hammy, forced acting. Among other problems.

They should take time and care to build up the story over films. Daredevil as a character has tons of awesomeness potential so I say bring 'em on.

Im not sure how I feel about this news. Loved the original Daredevil movie and I thought Affleck did a great job playing him. The director's cut was definitely the better version of the movie and I wish more movie fans would see it and see that Daredevil was a good movie. If not Affleck, then I would really want to see Michael C. Hall.

If there is any comic franchise that needs a reboot, it is Daredevil which makes it hard not to side with Fox. I would love to see Michael C Hall has DD, but Fox promises no exceptions.

Awesome!

The only thing the first one did right was his suit. That was one well wicked suit, and still is one of the best overall onscreen hero costumes. And Duncan was well cast, but misused, as The Kingpin...

This is Marvel's Batman...just seedier, darker and grittier...make it R-Rated and hardcore and I'm there.

Disney should buy the rights of ALL Marvel characters back.
Sony has a death grip on Spider-Man so that might not happen, but Fox doesn't need Daredevil or the Fantastic Four. They really don't need X-Men either, but like Spidey, they probably won't budge on them.

Mark Steven Johnson and Avi Arad are douche bags. They ruined this (and Ghost Rider)... I didn't care for Affleck being cast but whatever, I still expected him to half decent until I realized MSJ had no clue what he was doing. So yeah, reboot this shit and do it right (which they won't, sadly, because they're Fox). But, lets see...

Daredevil (2003, IMO 5/10) was bad, but not Ghost Rider-bad (2007, IMO 3/10). The fight scenes looked fairly sick (although those playground, club, and chapel fight scenes were downright silly), Affleck and Garner were good, and even the dialogue didn't make me cringe.

So long as M.S.R. and a couple of shitty writers aren't attached, and Marvel Studios gets COMPLETE CONTROL of it...

Daredevil has been my favorite superhero and comic book for most of my life, when the movie came out in 2003 i was crushed. in my opinion they completely wasted one of the most interesting stories/group of characters in the history of comics. id love to see a new take on daredevil but it IS still fox so im not getting my hopes up but surely crossing all my fingers and toes.

I really liked Daredevil, I thought the cast was really good. Id like to see Affleck return as Daredevil but I doubt it, I think even said he's lost interest in it. I'd also like to see Duncan and Farrell, they were awesome. It was heavily flawed though. Daredevil deserves much better than Mark Steven Johnson. Marvel should be making this reboot though because I have know faith in Fox.

This one reboot I'm hip to....
Get a qualified director, keep it dark, maybe rate it R, and stick to Frank Miller's run on the character.

Also, my pick for Matt Murdock is Matt Damon. Ever since the first movie I felt Matt should've been Daredevil instead of Ben Affleck. After the Bourne movies become a big success, it only became more apparent that FOX made a big mistake by casting the wrong "Good Will...

DD
I never really had a problem with the first one, the Director's Cut was darker and made for a more intriguing film, can't say the same for the Elektra spin-off which I thought was a perfect oportunity gone to waste because Jennifer Garner was perfect for the role.

I never thought Dare Devil was an interesting enough character to base a film on or a franchise for that matter, I don't really see this working out at all, I say give the rights back to Disney/Marvel and maybe we'll get better DD, FF and dare I say... X-MEN films.

Is Fox still involved with Daredevil. Because I honestly don't see how this would improve as long as Fox is involved (i.e. X-Men 3 and Origins, Fantastic 4)

Nothing wrong with the original
Granted, I was never a Daredevil reader, but I thought this was a pretty decent [link]s cut was better thought. Would love to see what Chris Nolan could do with this.

This is one reboot I'm okay with. Daredevil is seriously badass, and with the right actor and director, this could be an awesome movie, a la Iron Man. Bring it!

Excellent! No comic fight scenes, no stupid battles on a playground, an actor who actually looks like Matt Murdock and the proper telling of the Daredevil origin. BRING IT ON!

Eh, I'd rather see Ghost Rider rebooted. Ben Affleck's version was at least watchable.

Good...
... damn call. Honestly. I'm sick to hell of all these reboots, but I can't think of a franchise that needs it more (except maybe Ghost Rider - Go to hell Mark Steven Johnson).

I really think "DareDevil" had a gr8 start with the Affleck in the lead.
