Another teaser trailer for Fincher's The Social Network

Jul. 8, 2010by: Mike Sampson

The second teaser trailer for David Fincher's THE SOCIAL NETWORK is online and still we have no actually footage from the movie. Normally that would frustrate me to no end but in this case, it's working brilliantly. I couldn't be more excited to see what Fincher has in store here (partly though because I've read Aaron Sorkin's sure-to-be-Oscar-nominated screenplay).

In this trailer we just get more voiceover with the visual gimmick of Facebook updates. Pretty clever way to construct a little mini-narrative. Check it out below and let me know what you think.

Extra Tidbit: THE SOCIAL NETWORK is a whopping 3 hours and 10 minutes long.

It's only a few months away. If it's truly over 3 hours, don't you think they could show us some actual footage now? These teasers aren't doing anything me. I want footage, damnit!

Well, they are doing exactly what they set out to do: TEASE you. Seems like they're working :)

That was excellent.

I am not the biggest Fincher supporter ("Button" was boring as fuck, and "Fight Club" is the most overrated film of all time), but this is shaping up to be great.

Never having used Facebook or Myspace, I'm interested to see how it all came about. I'm sure liberties will be taken, but I think the story is still there. Also excited to see Fincher work his magic again.

Ive read the book this film is based on so I'm sure its gonna be a great film however, after the 1st teaser i think its time we see a real trailer. if they do another teaser like this with no real clips ill be pissed for sure

they "were" cool

Teasers like this wouldve been nice to see a few months ago, back in march. But now as Summer is in full swing, we should be seeing actual clips from the movie in the trailers, not just sound clips.

Its a nice trailer but i really want to see more from them at this point.

Not feeling it yet....

I'd rather see David Fincher working on something more deserving of his time than the story of the guy who founded MySpace 2.0 and had to steal/stab people in the back to do it and become a billionaire.

i'd steal/stab people in the back to be a hundred thousandaire.

come to think of it, in Se7en and Zodiaz they were stabbing people for free!

As Mike said, the marketing campaign's hesitation to show us actual footage just increases my anticipation for this film even more, and gets me even more and more curious just what these guys have in store. Which I think is the point. And it's definitely working. Aaah I want to see this already!
