Anyone want to listen to some decent bands cover Muppets tunes on The Green Album?

08.15.2011by:

Before THE MUPPETS comes out on November 23rd, how would you like to listen to some covers of classic muppet songs?

On August 23rd, Disney is releasing Muppets: The Green Album which will feature covers from bands/artists like Weezer featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore, My Morning Jacket, OK Go, Alkaline Trio, The Fray, and several others. While I'd rather hear my favorite felt friends sing these tunes, some of the covers aren't too bad. Rachael Yamagata's version of "I'm Going to Go Back There Someday" is heavenly.

NPR has a first listen on the album in its entirety. I'd definitely check it out before dishing out money on it. To check it out, click on the album cover below.

Cover songs are the remakes of the music world. Some are really good, but most suck. At the end of day you just end up wondering why anybody wasted their time messing with the original (besides more money, of course).

The only one i really liked was Alkaline Trio's cover, but i'm a big fan of theirs. I can stomach alot of indie shit but that was a bit much

I'm sorry...

I thought I read "decent bands". I see two, maybe three decent bands/performers, and a bunch of others that fall into the lame, emo, hipster, and overall shit categories. No thanks, I'll stick to the felt creations singing.

I didn't listen to any of these other than Rachel Yamagata, as I am a huge fan of hers. The song is incredible. She is one of the most talented and underrated performers out there
