Are these pink figurines from Toy Fair 2012 revealing who The Avengers' villains will be?
WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS TO FOLLOW!
So the big question for months now has been who exactly are the alien villains in Marvel's upcoming superhero extravaganza THE AVENGERS. Last week's Super Bowl TV spot raised more questions than it answered, but today thanks to a board game reveal at Toy Fair 2012, we may finally have our (long rumored) answer.
Hint: Starts with 'S' and rhymes with KRULL...
Okay, so yeah, you probably guessed the Skrull. The figurines depicted in the images from MTV Geek! below certainly look very Skrull-like, though it's not explicitly stated on the game's box (though they do mention the Cosmic Cube for whatever that's worth). The Skrull had seemingly been confirmed months ago when footage of a scrapped AVENGERS movie tie-in video game hit the web, though comments from Marvel honcho Kevin Feige - denying flat-out that we'd be seeing Skrull in the film - seemed to shut everyone up about that. So what's the deal? Talk around the web keeps pointing to the supposed fact that the Skrull are actually property of Fox due to their owning of the rights to the Fantastic Four. Many then are presuming that the aliens in THE AVENGERS are in fact the 'Chitauri' which are basically just the Ultimate universe version of the Skrull. A way around the legalities? Or was Feige simply lying and these are Skrull afterall? Debate and speculate wildly below!
|Extra Tidbit:||Reveals such as these are often accurate due to the nature of production in the world of ancillary tie-in products. Strict and meticulous guidelines cover all aspects of design, so the chances are pretty damn good that the final film's aliens will be visually very close to what's seen above.|
