Are we really going to get a television series based on Fallout?

The FALLOUT game series is one of my personal favorites. My fellow editor, Paul and I were just talking about our love for it the other night. Funny how this news comes out the following day.

Over the years there's been talk of developing the game series into a film or television series, but the idea gets kicked around and nothing ever comes of it. Now it seems that FALLOUT publisher Bethesda Softworks has registered a trademark with the United States Patent and Trademark Office for "an on-going television program set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world." There's really no other explanation for this other than the fact that they are developing a series from the game.

Interestingly enough, this news tails some mysterious tweets made by Erik Todd Dellums also known as the voice of DJ Three Dog in Fallout 3, which presumably were made about the upcoming FALLOUT 4:

Some fans think Dellums was also referring to the television series, but after reading other tweets, I don't think he's privy to that information. Who cares? I'm happy that we are even getting to talk about it!

If done right, this could be quite successful if it focuses on the wasteland setting. Look how the Walking Dead brought Zombies to fans of all walks of life.

This would be awesome if done right! The makeup would have to be top notch though cause of all the mutants. I'm not interested if it's all cgi! Take a page from the walking dead. Practical effects rule!

This would be a great setting for a tv show not on the main networks. Let AMC or FX get a hold of it and do it right. Fallout games are fun but agree with Avatard.. Skyrim is much better!

It's no Skyrim...

Tried repeatedly to get into FALLOUT 3 and the New Vegas follow-up, but never got hooked the way I did with SKYRIM (possibly the best sandbox game of all time). That being said, a TV show in that world could be pretty awesome. We need more genre shows now anyways (thanks a lot FOX for getting rid of FRINGE).
I'll get the iodine ready. :)

Couldn't agree more, Skyrim is just amazingly addicting.

I must be in the minority that likes the Fallout games better. I think it's the humor that has me hooked.
