Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp get in a ton of dangerous situations in the international trailer for The Lone Ranger

So you might need a little more convincing from THE LONE RANGER, am I right? I wasn’t too hip to it myself either. It was like someone wanted to do another WILD WILD WEST. However, this international trailer for the film ain’t too bad. It displays even more action, a better feel for the lead characters, and just looks like a lot of fun.

My only gripe thus far with the film seems to be Johnny Depp‘s interpretation of Tonto. The costume is cool, though I heard there was some issue with the bird as a headdress being inaccurate. But as it’s been pointed out before, it does come off a little comical at times. It almost seems like a stereotype rather than the real thing. I just think about the original Tonto, Jay Silverhawk and know that he was legit in the role even though he had problems with how they were portraying his people. Let’s hope I really Gore Verbinski pulls this one off. I like the guy so I think at best this will be nothing more than a good time.

Synopsis: The Lone Ranger’s origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.

THE LONE RANGER, starring Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Helena Bonham Carter, James Badge Dale, Barry Pepper and Ruth Wilson, thunders into theaters on July 3, 2013.
