I've been saying that I expect Schwarzenegger to be in TERMINATOR: SALVATION since day one but today we have the first semblance of a confirmation from director McG:

"The T800s as we know them look like Arnold [Schwarzenegger]. The T800 plays a big role in this movie.. I can't quite tell you how we express that, but I will tell you the following: I think when you make a Terminator movie the responsibility of our team...is to push special effects forward. So what we're trying to do is create visual effects and write code that's never been written before to address this very question. It is not clear if we will be successful or not, so we're working very diligently on going up to ILM in Sn Francisco because soon to address this very nature because... let me just hint at this: I don't want today's Arnold Schwarzenegger."

I've always thought that the production would get some decked out actor to play the T800 and then just whack Arnie's face onto it. It's nothing new. When I sleep with my pillow and pretend it's a chick, it's basically the same principal.

A dead body
that's how he should appear coz that's what a T800 is ( robot recovered by flesh ...).

Or maybe we will see the factory where skynet built them...

That would be pretty kick-ass! We need more T-1000s. Who knows maybe Skynet finds T-800s "cheaper" to mass produce.

Anyway, if Arnie's face will digitally pasted that's OK I guess coz they did the same for Christopher Lee's fight scenes in Star-Wars.

Seeing a young Arnold in Terminator Salvation will be really cool, it will help bring all the movies together.

I WONDER...
will Salvation (and its sequels) feature those awesome blue laser guns that are in the "flashbacks" of the future from T1 and T2?

they better.

So is the idea that all of that type of Terminator look the same - ie: like Arnie?

Hardly the most effective disguise. You'd think there's be at least a few different models knocking about to keep humanity guessing.

Hopefully they'll have a couple of Arnie's wandering around for nostalgia's/continuity's sake but have different looking flesh-coated terminators in there too.

When they have hordes of liquid metal Robert Patricks attacking in T5 or 6, then I'll be impressed.

I never even considered them throwing him in, I thought it was a ridiculous idea.

I'm so fucking happy!

Just as long as they don't get "today's" Arnold I think it's cool. That was my problem with T3, aside from them trying to revamp all the lines from Terminator, then the new ones from T2, the fact that Arnold just obviously looked aged was a real downer. They could have at least wrote in a subplot about the Terminator getting Botox.

Something else though, I thought Arnold was a T-101, which is what they say in T2 and t3 --- From the commentary, I thought the Arnold version of the terminator was a T-101.

Looking at the wikipedia though, it seems that t800 is like the series number and t101 is the model number, I guess like the difference between a Corolla CE and Corolla LE, or something.... I don't know. I hope it just has robots that kick ass.

Mr Ravenwood...
If you want to get historical, let's throw out The Crow. Brandon Lee died before filming ended, and when he paints his face to the Cure's Burn, that's an actor with his face. When he stands at the broken window moments later and lightning illuminates his face? CG there too. This could work, but it needs to be for story's sake, not just fan service.

I'll check it out for Bale and the Arnie cameo on dvd.

And touche, christopher lee's face pasted on the cgi dude in episode II/III was laughable.

I guess McG hasn't see "Benjamin Button."
It's cool if they do this, but come on, McG!? Don't act like you're inventing the wheel here.

It's likely that "Button" will win the VFX Oscar this year for doing exactly what he' talking about here (and REALLY well, I might add). And as far as the technology? Look all the way back to "Titanic" where Kate and Leo's faces were painted over two stunt people in that hallway as the...

Arnold....
For me the "Terminator" series without Schwarzenegger, just isn't "Terminator". I'll take a pass on this one at the theater and on DVD.

I liked T3 better than most, but I've been waiting for this movie ever since seeing the ending of that one. Hopefully it'll be as good as the trailer makes it look. Any Arnie cameo (digital or real) would be sweet in terms of continuity.

Guaranteed Spoiler Alert!!!
Predictable as always, I see a trilogy (or 2 part A and B like Matrix and Pirates) with the ending of the 3ed sending Reese back in time to impregnating his mom. From the get go I knew the ending of the “Salvation” will show a factory of C.G. Arnold faced T-800’s.

if they get arnolds face on a T-800, this is gonna be the greatest movie ever made. even if it the rest of the movie sucks, having arnold in it would totally redeem it

Here's the deal...
they got the rights to use Arnold's image and as a result, the early terminators will resemble him via CGI. Basically cut/paste.

Just a hunch, I feel this movie will completely rock everyone's world.

There is no way anyone can surpass T2, which I think is an all time classic. What McG (let’s call him Tim from now on) can do is what he should do, start a new franchise with the terminator material and avoid trying to duplicate or out do the previous installments. I want to have faith in this film and so far I do....

I'm still optimistic
I think it will be better than T3 (that film was awful mind). As long as they keep with the spirit of the first two films and have great characters, I’m happy.

I still think MCG was a poor choice mind to do this film. I would rather them hire a good indie director like Aronofsky, who clearly likes Sci-Fi after watching The Fountain.

I think he signed on to Robocop, haven’t heard...

Although this is one of the most I'm looking forward to most McG has it wrong. The T-800 was the endoskeleton; the Model 101 was the Arnie skin. A little nitpicky but card carrying geek, so you know...

Ever since seeing the new trailer I've been wondering, why didnt Skynet just cover one of the Termiformers with skin and send it back in time to kill John or Sarah?

I just hope it's not, to quote Jim Cameron himself, "a steaming pile". I kinda not totally hated T3 (its wicked ending being mostly the reason) but Salvation better be some good future war movie. Like crazy damn good.

So far McG pulled a Favreau and spent more time buttering us up in lousy conventions than anything else. I hope he'll deliver the goods and leave the Hack Pack...

At this point, I just hope T4 doesn't suck. The second trailer has promise.
