It wasn't that long ago that there was a big splash at Comic-Con promoting the RED SONJA movie that would star Rose McGowan and be produced by Robert Rodriguez. Then came some, um, creative differences (i.e., Rodriguez and McGowan breaking up on a personal level) that left the project in limbo. Now McGowan is back in the world of Conan as she's signed on to star in the upcoming CONAN reboot.

So is McGowan setting herself up for a SONJA spinoff with a role in this film? Not quite. She'll play a villainess in the film described as being a "half-human/half-witch." Whether she'll be in cahoots with lead villain Khalar Singh (played by AVATAR baddie Stephen Lang) remains to be seen.

Filming began on Monday in Bulgaria for the upcoming film, which will be released by Lionsgate. McGowan and Lang co-star with Jason Momoa, Rachel Nichols, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Ron Perlman and Said Taghmaoui in the film by Marcus Nispel.

Extra Tidbit: I wanted to get some SONJA scoop out of Rodriguez at SXSW but our interview was canceled.

She used to be so hot, it's a shame. In either case, I haven't found much to look forward to with this upcoming reboot, so this news really doesn't excited me nor disappoint me.

I like the addition of Rose. Its one of the few I agree with next to Perlman's. However I still want her as my Red Sonja!

i'm saddened at the news that Mike missed his chance at a Rodriguez interview.

Thumbs down - I love ya Rosie but there is no way to make a face with so much surgery fit in a movie set in the past.

One guess....
She's f**king the director of Conan! Why else put her in it? Not a good mix if you ask me. This is starting to sound like a bad movie, aside from the casting of Perlman, Lang & Nichols.

All for this...
I love when Rose plays naughty/bad girl roles and I think she'll fit nicely into this flick.

And to Dekard77, Lang has the ability much like Gary Oldman to be a chameleon in his different roles so I think he'll fit in very well. It all depends on how the director handles him.

HMMMM
I like it but Stephen Lang does seem out of place as lead villain.
