Assemble the ultimate Marvel movie collection this fall with a ten-disc Blu Ray set

Jun. 1, 2012by: Alejandro Stepenberg

The Avengers Assembled title banner

If you're a fan of Marvel's greater cinematic universe, there's a fair chance that you own several (or even all) of these movies already. And if you don't yet there's always the chance that since it has now been revealed just how awesome THE AVENGERS really is, folks everywhere will be wanting to have periodic movie marathons to witness the whole grand story in a single epic shot. It happens often enough with STAR WARS and LORD OF THE RINGS, and I'm sure that OFFICIAL MARVEL MOVIES will soon follow suit.

And so to the point: Amazon is teasing a ten-disc, six movie set that comes packaged in a what is both a very snazzy and very familiar-looking case:

The Avengers 10 disc set

"Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One - Avengers Assembled" will contain:

• Marvel’s The Avengers (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
• Captain America: The First Avenger (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
• Thor (Blu-ray 3D and Blu-ray)
• Iron Man 2 (Blu-ray)
• The Incredible Hulk (Blu-ray)
• Iron Man (Blu-ray)
• Bonus Disc - “The Phase One Archives” (Blu-ray)
• Collectible packaging with exclusive memorabilia from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Expect the specifics of what is hiding under that SHIELD cloth to be revealed later on in the summer.  So is this something you'd consider picking up?

Extra Tidbit: I don't remember the movie being called "Marvel's The Avengers" when I bought tickets opening weekend. Am I just fooling myself, or has there indeed been a small title change?

SWEET

Too bad the in France, the Marvel Studios' movies where distributed by different studios, so I don't think they can do it here.
AND... I would purchase it IF it was extended cuts of the movies, otherwise, paying over $100 for a (mostly) double dip is unreasonable nowadays...

so thats what John Travolta and Samuel Jackson were keeping their bloody hands on. No wonder people would kill for it.

YES! I'm so glad I haven't bought Cap and Thor yet. I've been meaning to for a while now but just keep forgetting. This is indeed great news.

Even though I have all of the movies on blu ray (multiple copies), I will still be the die hard fan that I am and go out and buy this early morning day one.

Going to be one hell of a superhero marathon.

Cool set, but since I own all these (except Avengers obviously) already I won't get it. Besides, it'll be incomplete in less than a year once Iron Man 3 comes out. I need the series to be complete (a la Back to the Future or Matrix) before I consider a boxset purchase.

Hate when this happens because I already own most of the dvds in the list. I'll wait to see what extras I get.

Sweet! Unfortunately, I'll wait for a set w/ Cap2 & Thor2 later on down the road. Maybe even other flicks, to boot . . .

Only if it has the Director's Cut Whedon spoke of would I purchase. I am assuming it will be over $100 because of the 3D disks.

Priceless...

If it comes in a cool briefcase filled with goodies other than the movies, I will gladly buy it for however much money it costs. I held out on buying the movies because I knew they would release something as cool as this.

Yes, the official title of the movie was Marvel's The Avengers. Its how they marketed the movie and it appeared at the beginning on screen. Why they did this could be for two reasons, ONE) Marketing. Getting the Marvel name out there to lay claim to this success on their part. Especially with DC's final installment of their Dark Knight franchise coming out later this summer, Marvel most likely wants people to remember them and their movie more.

TWO)Considering how much time has passed, I'm not sure how likely this is. But they could have also done it to avoid confusion with the trainwreck of a movie that was The Avengers starring Uma Thurman, Sean Connery back in the late 90's.

Alejandro, when the title credit comes up near the start of the actual movie itís presented as "Marvel's The Avengers" (I remember thinking how unnecessary that was the first time I saw it).

This is an AWESOME idea, by the way.

Okay, now that you mention it I remember that (and also thinking it was unnecessary). But I still don't remember it being listed that way on the theater's website or anything. Not that it really matters.

holy shitballs, that's awesome.

and though i don't remember the 'Marvel's' before the Avengers when i saw it either, it's probably wise. If anything, it'll help distance itself from the uma thurman/ralph fiennes bomb.
