Atticus Ross is the chosen composer for 47 Ronin

While the details on Keanu Reeves’ period-piece epic 47 RONIN have been relatively sparse thus far, the clouds have cleared a bit today with the reveal that Atticus Ross has been picked to score the film. While you may know him as one half of the composing team that won an Academy Award for THE SOCIAL NETWORK, Ross is no stranger to crafting excellent scores without the collaboration of Trent Reznor as shown by the really great work he did for THE BOOK OF ELI.

47 RONIN will be the feature film debut of commercial/music video director (and Ridely Scott protege) Carl Erik Rinsch.  Besides Reeves, the film stars Japanese actors Tadanobu Asano (MONGOL), Hiroyuki Sanada (THE LAST SAMURAI), Kou Shibasaki (BATTLE ROYALE), and Rinko Kikuchi (BABEL). The film tells the fact-based tale of “the Forty Seven Ronin,” a group of samurai who seek to avenge the forced seppuku of their master in 18th century Japan. Chris Morgan (WANTED) and Hossein Amini (DRIVE) wrote the screenplay for this new version of an old tale.

You can join the Forty Seven Ronin on their 3D path of vengeance this November.
