Awesome Art We've Found Around The Net: 300, Duel, Seven, Star Wars

Sep. 21, 2013by: Theodore Bond

Some cliche somewhere said that 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. "Awesome Artwork We've Found Around The Net" is the outlet for that passion. In this column I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That's the aim, if you have any questions or comments, or even suggestions of art or other great artists, feel free to contact me any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.

300 by Erik Jones

Hey

I don't really post much anymore but seeing as how it's the 1 year anniversary of this great column, I figured I should voice my opinion. This is quite easily my favorite column on this website. Hell, most of my favorite writers seem to have left and/or been replaced (some good, some bad) and quality control as far as spelling, grammar, and accuracy has definitely taken a hit.

I mean, there was an article posted earlier this week that the new Robocop will be pushed up to January for IMAX

Hell, most of my favorite writers seem to have left and/or been replaced (some good, some bad) and quality control as far as spelling, grammar, and accuracy has definitely taken a hit.

I mean, there was an article posted earlier this week that the new Robocop will be pushed up to January for IMAX screenings. The first sentence of the article then went on to state that the movie was releasing February 7th. So which is it? Damn if I know. 2 people brought up this inconsistency but were ignored by the author and the article was never updated with any sort of accurate information. Just disappointing really.

Anyway, I keep visiting every day because despite the fact that everything else is a mixed bag, this and Ink & Pixel are the 2 columns I can consistently rely on to be interesting and compelling each and every time they pop up.

Do I love each and every bit of artwork posted? No. But each offers a little something different and you can see the artist's imagination running wild. As browncoat7981 said below, even on a "bad" week, there is still at least 1 piece that I find great.. It's a pleasure week after week and I can tell that there are many others who feel the same way. I just felt like letting you know that there are probably many others like me out there who don't comment much but we do greatly appreciate your efforts.

This is getting to be a bit long-winded so I'll end it here. Kudos to you Theodore Bond, as well as Steve Seigh of Ink & Pixel, for putting in a high level of effort into your respective columns. You two are quite the assets to this website and i hope you guys will stick around for a while. Just know that you guys have your fans and though we may not be the most vocal group, we are certainly a very grateful bunch. Keep it up. :)

Credibility and likability definitely take a hit when punctuation, spelling and fact checking go out the window.

Unfortunately, the Twitter mindset breeds these misgivings, and it is seeping into everything, web wise.

It's almost as if the editorial process has gone on permanent vacation, especially here, at my beloved joblo.com.

You, sir, hit the nail on the head. Huzzah.

Shitty. For the past several weeks the artwork, for the most part, is the same style. It's gotten boring. Find some better ones please.

Love the one point perspective in the duel piece and the artist of the "Join the Rebellion" poster made Luke look particularly heroic and dashing! Also, happy birthday to this column, which is always a great way to kick off the weekend!

that 300 poster looks like he is kind of enjoying it, like he's reallllly kinky.
on another note I really like the robocop one and will be adding it to my wallpapers like I have been doing weekly since you came up with this column.

Can't get over how sick & awesome that '300' Leonidias looks

It's like he's channeling another Frank Miller character @ the moment of his death, telling Xerxes: "Is that the best you can do, you pansies?"

...Hey, it was either that or Ace Ventura's "3 Darts is TOOO MUCH!"

So many this week are outstanding. Robocop & John Doe from Se7en are probably my favorites. I love this column. I don't think that there has been 1 week that I haven't found at least 1 piece of art that made me stop & think: "Holy crap. That's good."
