Awesome Art We've Found Around The Net: Carrie, Se7en, Sherlock, Watchmen

2 years agoby:

Some cliche somewhere said that 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. "Awesome Artwork We've Found Around The Net" is the outlet for that passion. In this column I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That's the aim, if you have any questions or comments, or even suggestions of art or other great artists, feel free to contact me any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.

Alright

Who's decision was it to put the Seseme Street one right after Seven.

Very strong week. For me I'll have to go with Kung Fu Panda (i know, right?) followed by Carrie.

Agreed, one of the best collections in this column so far.

And THAT'S what the Dragonball (Z) movie should've went for.

Always love anything Watchmen...

And Boba's Back rocks. Seeing him crawl out of the Sarlaac is too cool. During the height of my Star Wars geekdom I penned a fan comic about Fett's armor being found by Jawas and then purchased by a different bounty hunter... but Fett himself surviving is even better!

Ashamed I didn't immediately think of Carrie when I first saw that image. Neat-o.

The painterly style on the Sherlock one is beautiful, but is it just me or does Martin Freeman end up looking more like Daniel Craig?

One of the accurate renditions of Martin Freeman I've seen. He's mostly drawn generic blond dude.

I feel like a broken record but seriously, for the past few weeks each line-up has been quite impressive. The Goku one is great!

The Goku piece heavily suggests the artist did not draw inspiration from the English dub, which is one of the absolute worst dubs I've ever witnessed. It makes the show seem like a moronic comedy, as opposed to the bad ass, emotional saga that it really is. If you've only seen the English dub, you are seriously missing out on the true essence of DBZ.

The intense, gripping, heart-wrenching saga that is Akira Toryama's Superman fanfic.

Watchmen is the only piece I don't really like, and that has nothing to do with how much effort was put into it, but my prference for Dave Gibbons' artwork vs. the movie. Breaking Bad, Sesame Street, Boba Fett, Bride of Frankenstein, and Goku all look great. Seven is pure genius though.

This whole batch is great this week, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be a tie between Bobba Fett, Watchmen, and Seven.
