Awesome Art We've Found Around The Net: Lost Boys, Robocop, Star Wars, Tron

Nov. 9, 2013by: Theodore Bond

Some cliche somewhere said that 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. "Awesome Artwork We've Found Around The Net" is the outlet for that passion. In this column I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That's the aim, if you have any questions or comments, or even suggestions of art or other great artists, feel free to contact me any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.

Jessica Rabbit
Robocop
That's Velma from scooby doo? I like the picture but I don't really understand. It's kind of a stretch
Tron is incredible artistically, I just absolutely didnt care for the last film

Wow, that Tron Legacy poster would have been an amazing theatrical poster.

Velma FTW!

What's up with Batman's hands? It looks like he's wearing Link's gloves from Skyward Sword... Or maybe he's just been spending too much time with Catwoman. XD

Velma farted.

Gotta go with RoboCop as my fave despite its awkward character positioning... it's just so delightfully '80s. The Drive font helps.

Wayne's World and Velma. The one thing about RoboCop that bothers me is he's too small. I get that he's supposed to be behind Lewis, but he should still look bigger than her.

Overall though, I like this week's selection.

Not to be an ass...

But the RoboCop one is actually a cover to the current run that's in print right now. There's even a story about the the lettering was used as an in-place joke before the final could be used, but the editor liked it so much he decided to keep it. I thought this was more stuff by amateurs and artists who were moonlighting. I mean, if it's not, I can find you a shit-ton of awesome Marvel and DC character art. I could look at Ed McGuiness She-Hulks all day long.

Batman has got some massive hands there! I like the ever so slightly cartoony feel of the RoboCop poster (it's a pity the reboot doesn't seem to feature Anne Lewis) and Tron Legacy's probably my favourite of the week. It really evoke old-school, lovingly hand-painted movie posters while still capturing the film's sleek, high-tech look.
