Aykroyd updates GB3

Dan Aykroyd spoke to the Los Angeles Times for an upcoming feature and before getting into, well, whatever else it is he’s up to, they spoke at length about GHOSTBUSTERS 3. Aykroyd confirmed that Ivan Reitman wouldn’t be returning to direct the film – “he’s too busy as a mega-producer” – but that he and the rest of the crew are hoping Egon himself, Harold Ramis, will step in to direct. (That “too busy” line is crap because Reitman had time to direct that piece of shit MY SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND. If Spielberg can find time to direct movies, so can Ivan Reitman.)

He also mentions that Sigourney Weaver has officially agreed to return for the film after declining to participate in the upcoming video game. As for who he’d like to see in the film to help usher in the new era of GHOSTBUSTERS, Aykroyd had some odd choices. He didn’t throw out any of the oft-rumored Apatow players like Seth Rogen or Jonah Hill but instead Eliza Dushku and Alyssa Milano. Not sure how Aykroyd became smitted with Dushku but Milano recently stepped in to voice the lead female character in the video game after Weaver deferred.

With all these updates, Aykroyd wisely cautions that “at any second everything could blow up” and we’d be right back at square one. Which, come to think of it, might not necessarily be such a bad idea.
