Babes make Retreat | Movie News
Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman and Kristin Davis have signed on to co-star in the upcoming comedy COUPLES RETREAT for Universal. Based on a script by Jon Favreau, the comedy would star the ladies plus Favreau, Vince Vaughn, Jason Bateman and Faizon Love as four couples sucked into couples therapy while on vacation. Bell is playing Bateman's wife, Davis plays Favreau's wife, and Akerman plays Vaughn's with Love's wife still yet to be cast. Peter Billingsley, Favreau's longtime producing partner and, yes, Ralphie from CHRISTMAS STORY, will make his directorial debut with the film. COUPLES is Favreau's first writing credit since 2002's THE FIRST $20 MILLION, a comedy most people have completely forgotten about. Just on the pedigree of its cast alone, this is already one of the must-see comedies of 2009 (though I'd love to read the script to see if it actually lives up to the hype). Filming on COUPLES, which will take place in Bora Bora and Los Angeles, will begin later this year before Favreau begins work on IRON MAN 2.

I hate Heroes and thought Forgetting Sarah Marshall sucked. Neither one of these roles gave her ANYTHING good to do, both characters were sh!tty and far beneath her.

I hate Heroes and thought Forgetting Sarah Marshall sucked. Neither one of these roles gave her ANYTHING good to do, both characters were sh!tty and far beneath her.
This new movie, Couples Retreat, sounds like another bad choice for her. And she's married to Jason Bateman in this?!?! The guy is a good actor, but these 2 people don't go together AT ALL as a couple. For one, he's way too old and them pretending to be married in a movie will just come across as creepy as hell.
I really hope Kristen Bell gets some better movies in the future, because being a fan of hers and having to endure one lame project after another sucks. Hopefully, sooner or later, she ends up in a movie where she's playing a character that is Veronica Mars quality.
