Strike Back below!
by: Daniel Barna May. 27, 2009

Nic Cage obviously read the article below this one in which I totally bashed his choice of movies as well as his choice of hair. So what did he do? He called director Werner Herzog and begged him to release the trailer for BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS. The title may be off, but the movie looks badass. Nic is a renegade cop addicted to drugs, sex, and breaking the rules. And with Herzog helming its got an offbeat tone that feels just right. Val Kilmer, Eva Mendes and Xzibit co-star. Well done Nicolas, well done.

Screw you nay-sayers!
This looks like it could be great fun - it's now on my list of most anticipated films of the year!

Well, we've pretty much seen the entire movie, his hair is still awful but I still want to see it. It looks pretty funny, happy to see it's more of a sequel than anything. The trailer kinda sucked though, considered it rented.

The End is Nigh
Unless this is a comedy, Cage is finished as a serious actor; the acting indicated in this, by Cage, looks truly appalling.
There is no way he can be taken serious, or for that matter, anyone that defines this junk as good.
Although its Herzog, it even looks poorly made, the imagery looks bland and cheap, as flat as the worst TV production.
The title itself sucks; the relation in any way

The title itself sucks; the relation in any way of this to the original is an insult; Ferrara should be furious.
The harmonica music over the trailer is like hearing nails on a blackboard and just emphasises the stupidity of what we can see on screen.
The dialogue hilarious, but not in a good way: "shoot him again, his soul is still dancing" will be the comedy quote of the year (or will that be years?)
Although ultimately this is only the trailer, it looks truly hideous; Cage's ten year run of mediocrity is now sinking to even lower depths of depravity.

The Cage-bashing has gone far enough now. Yeah, he made some movies that were so-so or less. And yeah, he's losing his hair ... who cares? At least he's an actor that is still able to deliver some terrific performances. I know many big names that don't.

'Adaptation', 'Matchstick Men', 'Lord of War' anyone? I'm sure the movie 'Kick-Ass' will be one to watch and there's no doubt 'Bad

Cage was never gone, as long as he keeps doing some good stuff between the bad, I'm glad he's among us.

why is this even called a remake?

the premise hardly seems to be the same, and it looks amazingly fun, but is going to be shat on for being a remake.

Shoot him again. His soul is still dancing!
So bad, it's good, anyone? Some of the lines near the end of the trailer were laughably horrendous.

Fear and loathing in New Orleans
Herzog is the man. Not quite sure of his command in this style of urban thriller, but it looks promising. Looks a lot more interesting than recent bland crap Training Day, American Gangster and the like. Cage is the man too in the right role.

I'm probably mostly just happy this thing looks light-years away from Ferrara's cult masterpiece (or whatever the hell that movie was).

I've only seen the various montages of clips from "Wicker Man" but it looks like he decided absurd and ridiculous would be a lot better when it's not played straight. The drug angle seems pretty funny. Val Kilmer looks YOUNG, and Herzog is as nutty as ever.

As much as I like Herzog....
This looks like a wannabe "Crank." Why can't Nicholas Cage go back to making "Faceoff", "Con Air", or "The Rock"-like movies. Michael Bay call Cage and get him a movie that'll ACTUALLY BE GOOD and WORTH WATCHING!.
