Badass trailer for action flick Headshot starring The Raid's Iko Uwais hits

THE RAID kicked my f*cking ass. When action films at the time were content with that close-up/quick-cuts/shaky-cam bullshit that made it look like a toddler with epilepsy was filming the action scenes, THE RAID came out and showed how real action should be done. Wide shots, long takes, brutal stunts, blood, gore, broken bones. Not saying all action movies have to be shot that way, but it was a nice change of pace nonetheless.

Which brings us to this new film, HEADSHOT. While the director of THE RAID isn't directing this one, the main star of the film Iko Uwais is still front-and-center. And he looks as badass as ever.

Here's the synopsis (though who gives a shit really?):

Uwais plays a young man who washes ashore, an amnesiac with a serious head injury whose past comes back to haunt him shortly after being nursed back to health by a young doctor. Violence ensues. Sweet, sweet violence.

Holy balls! That looks pretty awesome. I even like how it focuses on the soft love story before hitting us with all the brutal, bloody (and yes, sweet) violence. Here's hoping that the film has a bit of a beating heart underneath it, though, which is what elevates badass action movies to great movies, period.

There's no release date yet for the states, but it already opened in Indonesia. I never had a reason to go to Indonesia before, but I think I might start packing for a vacation...

So what's everyone's favorite fight scene?

Extra Tidbit: There are many clues (as well as confirmation by director Gareth Evans in the film's commentary) that reveals Iko Uwais' character in THE RAID films was Muslim.

Looks awesome and very reminiscent of the Raid films. It's one of those things were it almost feels like an unofficial part of the series due to the style and the involvement of some of the same people. Sure as hell looks like the closest thing we will get to the Raid 3 until that actually gets made!

fuck yes

Count me in. I've been waiting to see what Iko did next, and this looks plenty bad ass.

Also, in regards to the extra tidbit, maybe it was edited from the american cut, but in the original Indonesian cut of the film, there's a scene in the beginning with him doing his morning prayer before saying goodbye to his family for the mission

Yes. It was in the trailer and I remember seeing it in the full film. I didn't think there was ever any doubt about the characters religion, I just think people sort of overlooked it since it wasent relevant to the story

"I just think people sort of overlooked it since it wasent relevant to the story"

exactly. When I watch a movie I dont give a shit about someones religion or sexual orientation etc in terms of the story unless its relevant
