Bateman ready to Play

Jason Bateman continues his impressive career arc upwards from TEEN WOLF TOO today as he signs on to star alongside Brad Pitt and Ed Norton in the upcoming political drama STATE OF PLAY. The film will star Pitt as a newspaper editor heading an investigation into the murder of woman dating a congressman (Norton). Bateman will play the reporter aggressively pursuing the case. We all knew Bateman could do comedy with his impressive work on "Arrested Development" but lately he's shown his dramatic chops as well with THE KINGDOM and even a surprisingly dry turn in JUNO. Is it just a matter of time before Jason Bateman is nominated for an Academy Award? I say yes! Kevin Macdonald (THE LAST KING OF SCOTLAND) is directing the film for Universal based on a script by Matthew Michael Carnahan. Bateman has a lot going on in the coming weeks including the aforementioned KINGDOM and JUNO as well as the kids comedy MR. MAGORIUM'S WONDER EMPORIUM. He's currently filming the superhero drama HANCOCK (still hate that title, BTW) with Will Smith and Charlize Theron.

Extra Tidbit: Do you think Bateman ever returns this kid's phone calls?
