Well after the word that Rosario Dawson had turned down the chance to star in Kevin Smith's next flick, ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO - in a role he pretty much wrote for her - it now appears that Jason Bateman might just be the guy stepping in to play Zack. Apparently, a source that is "is definitely in a position to know this information, but is untested" gave the information up.

I'm gonna go ahead and believe this story, because Jason Bateman is great. As I said before, I loved him in SMOKIN' ACES and I'd love to see what he can do with some funktastic Kevin Smith dialogue in his mouth. What do you guys think? A lot of people seem to think Zack Braff (SCRUBS) was the dude for the role.

I'm all for anything K-Smith does, but aren't they getting ahead of themselves? I thought he said the next movie he does will be Red State, and Dawson said that the reason why she couldn't do Porno with Kev is because she's busy with another film... so if he did Red State next, wouldn't that open her up to shooting this one? Or did I miss a press release that explained this?

Yesssss... I will watch any movie that has any of the cast from AD (if 2 or more are present I more likely to of course) and yes, the best part of Smokin Aces was Jason Bateman... and this is a Kevin Smith thing and I hear it has something to do with porn... I am so there.

Damn, Daredevil, which movie site have you ever seen that didn't rely on other sources? That's the beauty of JoBlo especially compared to AICN. It's not about being first (and frequently wrong) to get the scoop, it's about being COMPLETE and ACCURATE, and crediting the good sources of that shite.

well rosario dawson just smacked kevin smith in the face! i wonder if she even enjoyed fliming clerks. on some of the extra stuff on the dvd she just seems annoyed talking on the phone or says moobys. fuck her she was in alexander anyway

Top of the page, right underneath the headline, it says SOURCE:AICN. Hence, it wasn't stolen because they credited it. I understand it was hard to miss being right at the top of the page and all.

As far as I'm aware, the Zach and Miri of the film's title will not actually be in the porno, but rather directing and producing it. At least that's what I've gathered from what I've read on it.

Also, Bateman could be a great choice. He's hilarious and K Smit has mentioned him in multiple SModcasts, so it could be true.

Bateman could be fantastic, because what the key will be is finding people who aren't as hot as normal porn stars, or can at least pull off "down to earth" like Dawson did in Clerks II. Personally, I think Mandy Moore could make a really good Miri, but I suppose I've got other ideas invested into the matter...

Kevin Smith is a huge Arrested Development/Jason Bateman fan, so this seems like a definite possibility. I sure hope he winds up in it.

Great choice!
Jason Bateman and, in fact, all of the leads from Arrested Developemnt are great (yes, even Portia De Rossi was good in AD). I am glad that Bateman is getting bigger and better roles. I too liked his small part in Smokin' Aces. And Kevin Smith is cool as hell therefore this is a great combination!!
