Batman 3 comes out of the bat cave and starts off in New Orleans in April

10.06.2010

Okay, so we know that BATMAN 3 will be released in 2012 and we also know that Christopher Nolan is definitely directing.

Besides a bit of casting, what else would be nice to know? What about a production start date? You are in luck! According to Superhero Hype, Nolan & Co. have settled in for a start date of April next year in New Orleans.

This news confirms what Michael Caine said back in July. Of course we are all really excited.

Superhero hype also had the scoop on some other locations and dates: "Men in Black III, which starts filming on October 18 in New York through May; Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which will shoot in Romania and Turkey starting in November; the untitled Spider-Man reboot, which begins shooting in Los Angeles in December; and The Avengers, which starts shooting in February in Los Angeles."

Extra Tidbit: Joseph Gordon-Levitt's big brother, Dan passed away Monday night at the age of 36. He announced it on his twitter last night saying, "My super hero brother @burningdan 1974-2010. Celebrate his life here ~ http://bit.ly/dBTMQ8 because he's fucking awesome."

Green Lantern, The Expendables, Red, and now Batman 3 all filmed in New Orleans. It looks like Hollywood South is one of the new places to film big budget movies.

better idea

why don't we shelve another boring overrated batman snoozeathon and wait 10 or 15 years...put michael keaton (the real batman) back in the role and do the dark knight returns

I'm most curious about what is being shot in New Orleans...Killer Croc anyone?!? It'd be an awesome origin for a character like that.

Why are people even comparing Nolan and Snyder ?
If you understand anything about directing, its more than just action scenes by the way, Nolan understands the craft way better than Snyder. Im not a Snyder hater, Im not fan of too much slow-motion or too much shaky cam either, but there is no comparison between the two. What matters is storytelling.

Snyder's choreography and eye for fight scenes is terrific. Really my only complaint is that I wish he'd ease up with the slow-motion. I understand that it can be used for emphasis sometimes, but he overused it in "Watchmen". He used it beyond the point of overkill. In scenes where it didn't even need to be used.
I challenge you to play a "Watchmen" drinking game with just one rule: drink every time slo-mo is used. Including the opening credits. With just beer. No shots, just beer.

@Diyalated: Please tell me the opening sequence you're referring to is the Comedian's fight scene, and not the absolutely breathtaking musical introduction.

What's wrong with slow mo

What's with all of the Snyder bashing. I'd rather watch slow mo action then the shakey camera a.d.d action that's plagued hollywood as of late. Watchmen was my fav movie of last year tied with basterds. Nolan did good action in TDK as well so they are both good at their styles. Enough with the matrix references already. It didn't invent slow mo.

Action scenes are easily Nolan's worst aspect of directing. Too close, too edited.

Synder's are easy to follow and done in an epic way. Yes, action-wise, Synder demolishes Nolan.

At first, I was all excited because of the Bat news, but then I gotta read about Mr. Levitt's brother. Good, poignant tweet.

Just be done with it so Bale can take the superserious stick out of his ass.

Ohhh wowww, B3 ( more like B7), we should all wait with baited breath like we didn't know it was happening with Nolan at the helm.

NEW ORLEANS?

Is there gonna be any consistentcy in the look of Gotham? I actually prefered the look of Gotham in Begins so hopfully it looks more like that cause Gotham was too modern and new looking in TDK and it was probably my only real complaint about the movie. I'm not asking for a Tim Burton looking Gotham but I thought they nailed the right look for it in Begins.

In fairness Bats spent a lot of the first film in The Narrows part of Gotham.

Which was supposed to look completely battered and rundown compared to the rest.

Yeah I know but as a life long Batfan you expect Gotham to look, well Gothic. I'm in no way bashing the movie cause it's easily my favorite but thats just one minor gripe I have with it. As a fan you expect crumbling roof tops and dark labrynthian alleyways not well lit streets in the middle of Downtown. Begins just looked more like Gotham should to me.

New Orleans

I'm from NOLA, and the Big Easy and surrounding areas can be used to cheat for just about anywhere (except snowy mountain peaks), so I really don't expect the storyline to involve anything that has to do with Louisiana or the South in general. I'm sure Nolan will shoot stuff in Chicago and in England as he's done before as well. WB likes shooting big tentpoles in Louisiana because of the state's tax credits program for film production. They can make back 30% of what they spend in the state.

Clearly Nolan wants himself and the whole cast to get bombed on Bourbon Street before filming begins and all I gotta say is that I like his style. The whole situation with Joseph Gordon Levitt's sucks, especially when it's your older brother. Still hoping to hear Michael C. Hall or Hugh Laurie's name get mentioned for The Riddler. Maybe Vincent Kartheiser as a "left field" choice?

Funny you mention Michael C Hall because I've been watching Dexter for the past 5 days and am hooked but kept thinking that guy would make an interesting Riddler. Of course I'm also one of the many who'd settle for Levitt too.

I think Hall/Dexter is a bit too stoic for the role of riddler. I saw him in Gamer and he just wasnt that good as the villian whether it was the shitty movie itself or if it was him i cant be sure.

Ok...

First of all, Nolan improved shooting action sequence in The Dark Knight, no denying it.
Second of all, Snyder can barely shoot a action scene. Slow motion? Oh boy! He's been watching too much Matrix.
Third of all, Nolan has always been and always will be a superior director compared to Snyder, so Nolan needs no learning from anyone, especially Snyder. Thats like saying that Einstein needed to learn a thing or two about math from a person with Down Syndrom

Actually Einstein probably could learn about math from someone with Down Syndrome, ever seen Rain Man? Truly intelligent people know that you should never give up being a student and you can always learn something new from even the most unlikely sources. Nolan could learn from Snyder and Snyder from Nolan perhaps elevating both their games, probably not but I wouldn't say it isn't possible.

Dead wrong! Synder is a much more visually interesting action director than Nolan. Nolan edits too much and films them far too closely.

I hope they end up in Chicago for the Gotham scenes. Chicago is now Gotham in my eyes. Killer Croc has some Louisiana story lines. I really hope they don't go that route.

Nice. And now that Nolan and Snyder are hanging out, maybe Nolan will learn a thing or two about how to shot action? He did a bit better in his last two films, but in that area he has a lot to learn.
