Batman game trailer

01.30.2009

So we never did get our hands on a DARK KNIGHT videogame. But we've got Lego Batman, right? Right??... OK so hardcore gamers are looking for something a little, well, hardcore. Well there's good news for you. "Batman: Arkham Asylum" is on the way. The best news of all is that the game was written by Paul Dini, the genius behind "Batman: The Animated Series" and will feature the voice talent from that series (including Mark Hamill as The Joker). The game is scheduled to be released on May 1st and there's a new trailer for you to check out. Looks all kinds of awesome to me...

Extra Tidbit: Frankly I think this will wind up being better than a TDK game would have.

In my opinion, Conroy and Hamill are as much Batman and The Joker as Keaton/Bale, Nicholson/Ledger.

Just a Few...

Euclid:

...Where do you think Heath Ledger even got the initial idea for changing his voice to upper and lower tones with very odd consistancy??

....He got it from Mark Hamill's Joker. (Heard him say it on E channel int.)

But seriously, as much I adore and drool at what heath did, because it is rockin, lol, I feel like I grew up with Mark Hamills Joker. And what I love about his is that he really is taken for a wacho. And he can be so scary with his voice, yet so honestly

But any who, this game alone with the new ghostbuster game makes me sooooo happy! Hollywood and Vid Game Co's are finally starting to understand what it is sells! GOOD MATERIAL! :D

the game looks great, I think they should use a newer Batsuit though, it seems like they always use the gray suit that doesnt have any protection in the games.

well, you cant really compare the 2 voices, they represent different sides of the same character. Ledger's voice seemed perfect for the way he played Joker, as a slightly crazy professional criminal that doesnt care what people think of him. Hamill's joker was more of a "i'm crazy and i love it" kind of personality to him, more comical but also evil. there are plenty of different ways to characterize the Joker, straight up criminal with an odd side to him, crazy nutjob with a death wish, insane

After going back and rewatching TAS it's kind of cool to look back and see all the similarities between Hamill & Ledger. I think both of these actors totally understood the character of The Joker. They both gave performances that felt like their Joker had stepped right out of the comics.

In this new game Hamill's Joker seems to be the same old Joker that I love from TAS.

Though, Conroy's Batman is still untouchable. His voice is what I hear whenever I read the comics.

Also, Hamill's

Hamill sounds absolutely nothing like Ledger. He sounds like an older Hamill playing the Joker.

Funny how a simple criticism brings out the ďhow old are youís?Ē Moving on... I donít think I need to offer up my ďviewing resumeĒ in order to justify what I wrote earlier, nonetheless, if it helps... I've watched Gargoyles, Batman Beyond, Spiderman, Batman Adventures, The Tick e.t.c. That should give you some inkling on what else Iíve come across. In other words, yes, I am familiar with the originals.

Mark Hamill might be one of the oldest and most consistent voices for the character of Joker, but that alone doesnít make him the best by default. Conversely, Ledgerís performance doesnít take away from what Mark Hamill has done with the Joker already. What Iím saying is simple. Hamill doesnít sound like Hamillís Joker in this, he sounds like Hamill + Ledger.

Just because a Donovan Bailey runs a 9.84 doesnít mean a Usain Bolt canít come along and run a 9.69. Point being, thereís always a chance that someone better might come along. And in my humble opinion, Ledgerís voice work for the Joker was, correction, is, far superior than that of Mark Hammilís. As good as Mark Hamill might be as the voice of joker, he should stick to what he feels is natural.

One more thing... Personally speaking, nothing is ever cemented in my mind so much so that I just canít imagine anything otherwise. I try to be open to the possibility that someone or something might come along and blow my previously held notions of perfection to pieces. In this case, Hamillís Joker having been amazing, cue Ledgerís Joker and a new standard set.

How old are you exactly? Did you EVER watch the Batman animated series? The person doing the Joker is Mark Hamill who is considered THE best voice of the joker, you might want to look him up on Youtube, and you will see its not an imitation of TDK or Heath Ledger Mark has been doing the Joker voice for the past 15+ years. But the game looks amazingly good.

AWESOME!!!!! I love love LOVE Kevin Conroy's Batman and Mark Hamill's Joker. I'll be buying this as soon as I can! Sweet!!!
@Euclid: You obviously never watched any of the animated series. Conroy and Hamill have been doing those 2 characters since 1992. When I read the comics it's their voices I hear in my head.

Not impressed. The game looks very much like the Splinter Cell series - judging by the animations - which isnít exactly bad thing all things considered. The animations though look unrefined and clunky. The Batman voice over seems just right, as for the Jokerís, let's just say Ledger managed to set a very high bar and this doesn't even come close to reaching it. From what I could tell, the Joker's voice seems forced and imitated, as if it were tacked on without much thought. Hopefully, they

Hopefully, they can create something original and not attempt to blatantly capitalize on the success of The Dark Knight.

Forever was crap, but Batman Returns was a cool game. This definitely looks better than a movie tie-in game. Is it me or did Mark Hamill change his Joker voice a bit? Still sounds good.

I've heard Forever was crap but I've played Batman (NES) and Batman Returns (SNES) and both were awesome games.

This one looks great too. Getting Paul Dini, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill for this game was a brilliant move. Hamill will always have the greatest Joker voice.

Games based on movies almost always suck. So I'm really not sad about there being no Dark Knight game (Did you play Batman Forever?).
