Batman has a sit-down with the Joker in first Batman: The Killing Joke clip

Batman: The Killing Joke

Talk of an animated adaptation of Alan Moore and Brian Bolland’s "Batman: The Killing Joke" went on for several years before Bruce Timm, Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy finally all joined forces to bring us the real deal. BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE will see Kevin Conroy starring as the voice of Batman/Bruce Wayne, Mark Hamill as the Joker, and Tara Strong as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon. Alan Moore's comic finds the Joker attempting to drive Commissioner Jim Gordon insane and follows Batman's desperate attempt to stop him before it's too late. With the premiere of the R-rated animated film fast approaching, DC Comics All Access have released the first clip from the film. If you're prefer not to wade through the comics and toys, the clip in question kicks off at 3:55. You're welcome.

That Joker, what a sneak. It's nice to see that things have improved over the sometimes jerky animation featured in the first trailer for THE KILLING JOKE, but fans will get the chance to see the finished product for themselves before too long. BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE will make its world premiere at the upcoming San Deigo Comic-Con which runs from July 21–24. The film will also enjoy a "one-night only" theatrical release on June 25th before landing on Digital HD on June 26th with a Deluxe Edition Blu-ray following on August 2nd.

The backgrounds look great, and most of the character designs are on point, but holy jeez - you can really tell Bruce Timm doesn't have access an in-house animation studio for this. It reminds me a lot of independent Korean anime, with lots of limited inbetweens, and keyframe-to-keyframe actions. Also, the lines of action for the Joker dealing cards were terrible.

Yeah, I really dislike the animation as well....

This looks like something I'll watch once because the premise is interesting, but the animation will annoy me too much to watch it a second time, even if I think it's a good story.

I laughed when Batman said this.

"Hello. I want to talk. I've been thinking lately about you. You and me."

It sounded like Batman has a crush on The Joker. Of course it didn't sound like that at all when he said the other things, but it was funny how it started off.

Kevin Conroy's voice seems off. And sorry Darth but I agree with the others about the sub par animation. BTAS was far better and that was on a weekly basis.

Stop bitching. It looks the same as the Batman animated series.

It looks like an after school weekday cartoon. I can't believe the animation looks so bland. I would expect this from the old Fox Kids cartoons but not a rated R full length animated movie. The dialogue in the clip was bad too. They totally dropped the ball on this one.

So disappointed, this looks like a low grade animated film...... The Dark knight returns 2-parts blu ray series are awesome looking, the killing joke is as popular as TDKR so why it had to end up looking that cheap?
