It seems Batman decided to do a little tweaking to his suit for the upcoming THE DARK KNIGHT as JoBlo.com Spy From The Dark Knight Frontlines Ryan OC sent us this pic of ole Bats sporting his fancy schmancy new threads. We don't have a higher res picture so if you have the patience to discern the somewhat blurry explanations of how exactly the suit has been altered then please do strike it back for us all below. THE DARK KNIGHT opens July 18th, 2008.

Besides it being totally realistic and logical, Batman will probably be shrouded in this cape most of the time, so you wont see it full on a lot of the time.

As much as I like the plain cloth suit, specifically Alex Ross and Jim Lee's designs, it makes alot more sense to have bulletproof armor.

RORY'S = SORRY?
Seems like a good idea to have the Batman suit "upgraded". No fancy colors, nipples or new gigantor cod pieces, but a few changes would make sense. How often do you make a suit to fight crime and wackos (read: super villians) and get your suit right on the first try? I would imagine there would be more unforseen situations you run into that require the upgrades. Anyway, in regards to the...

one more thing...
perhaps we now know the reason why Nolan titled the sequel THE DARK KNIGHT, the armor on the suit now makes it look quite knight-ish.

Looks great!
it actually looks more "realistic" in terms of style than the last one in BEGINS. Less rubber is a plus. At the moment (maybe because of the angle or lighting of the photo) this upgrade looks less menacing, but it certainly looks more flexible, fluid, and mobile.

i like it, especially the cowl. The whole thing just looks leaner then before, I'd say the next step from here would be even more simplified.

It’s just motorcycle armor, but it’s cool I guess.
Daredevil did it, why not Batman. I’m glad it’s not leather, that’s an improvement to the Daredevil’s suit. At least Batman can move he head now, can’t believe it took them 6 movies and 3 decades to figure it out. At least it looks better then what they did with The Joker.

"It was the hardest part of the suit to make," say Hamming.



2.) CAPE FEAR Don't bother asking. "It's top secret," says Hamming. Meaning...? "Let's just say things happen to the cloak." Our guess: It's also a picnic blanket!



3.) BLADES OF GLORY The razors on Batman's forearms are actually part of the suit. (His gloves tuck into the sleeves of the suit.) They're retractable, and yep, they're weapons. "They shoot at people!" says Hamming with a Jokeresque laugh.



4.) RAW MATERIAL The new suit is made of 200 individual pieces of rubber, fiberglass, and nylon and metallic mshe. Bruce Wayne's work clothes now have a stylish texture, suggesting they're made with sophisticated new technology. "I thought it would make it more interesting to look at and wonder about," says Hamming, adding that the stretchy rubber liners also help bind the costume to Bale's body.

Some people complain about the suit looking too high tech. I think it makes his muscles look more sinewy. Awesome.

Full neck movement
I'm curious as to how it will look on film with his new codpiece giving him full head movement now! I'm pretty happy with what they did! I'm just as curious to see what they will do to the Batmobile (if they are doing anything at all)! Ah, July seems so far away!

I wanna just sleep for a year or take Doc Brown's time machine to next year when Dark Knight opens. And, deadshot, I love Tim Burton's take on Batman. He did a fantastic job. Shumacher can rot in hell tho.

It's worked just fine in Sandy Collora's DEAD END, but that won't fly on the big screen. I sincerely hope you mean "Felix Unger", ginopags. Seriously, who cares. They're attempting make this thing realistic, and it's still loaded with simplistic BS corner cutting. He gets a new suit that probably allows more moneuvarbility, and bla bla bla, and he finds it at Wayne Corp... nice! So real!!!! So when the villains see it we'll get a line like "What are you supposed to be, a reject quarterback?!" FU Nolan and Co.

This is awesome. I do think there is too much paneling and what looks like segmentation, but I have been saying since the Burton days that Batman looks stupid because he cannot look at something without turning his whole torso. Now that he can move his head we can probably look forward to some better acting "in-suit"

When I first saw it I thought it was too busy, like the Batman and Robin suit...but after a few seconds to look it over, it's badass. It's like a suit of friggin armour, pretty intimidating. Though, I do prefer the slick suit from Begins.

I liked the suit from begins, but I like this one even more! Man the head looks so much better. Plus, I think the lighting probably isn't the greatest in this shot, plus he'll be in the dark most of the time, so you wont even see the details. But I love it!

SWEEEEEEEET
FINALLY. Neck movement from a live-action Batman! Nolan shot around it pretty well in BB (with the exception of a hallway moving hallway shot in the Arkham escape). He looks like a bat-gladiator. I can't wait to see the upgraded batcave!

also: Suit looks pretty good. I really like the functional armor look, the one thing about batman I never quite understood is why in the heck he'd be wearing spandex.

I love it!

But if i remember correctly, wasn't his suit like this in Begins, but just spray painted over with black? Seeing as how all the things he gets are military technology, it totally makes sense to me.

I liked the first suit better. Maybe its the lighting but this has some kind of mousey brown shade. What do I know from Batsuits? But I thought this would be out sooner than July 08. A year of teaser anticipation. What a drag.

Im 100% digging this suit. One of my biggest complaints about Batman Begins was the suit around his neck just looked silly as hell..always buldging out and what have you. His arms at the shoulders never looked quite right either..

I dont know maybe its because im a superman fan and he would melt batman in 5 seconds but I just dont like this suite much. I think Keaton's was better.
