Because you apparently demanded it, maybe a prequel to Takers

After a stint in movie prison, the endlessly delayed heist flick TAKERS finally hit theaters, and overcame cast troubles, dead-zone release date and laughably amateurish Photoshop work to narrowly swipe the top spot at the box office this past weekend.

Did it do well enough to justify another movie? Rapper-producer-actor T.I. seems to think so.

When asked today about a possible follow-up, T.I. told BET: “I’m a step ahead of you — I just got off the phone with the director, writer, the head of Screen Gems and the label heads over at Sony.  We are working not a sequel, but a prequel to tell the back story of the characters.

It would be interesting to see if audiences would turn out to see more of this crew and their early days, or if they’d still feel swindled by the first one. JoBlo reviewer Chris Bumbray slapped the cuffs on the movie with a 3 out of 10, with statements like “apparently it took four guys just to write a film that’s essentially an MTV CRIBS version of HEAT, with a little ITALIAN JOB (remake) mixed in.”

Thanks to ‘Hannibal G.’ for the heads up.
