Ben Affleck has written a solo Batman movie

One of the big rumors that's been circulating around Warner Bros. and their creation of a DC Cinematic Universe has been that Ben Affleck is one day going to get behind the camera while donning the Batman cowl and direct a new solo Dark Knight film. Warner Bros. has announced DC films and their respective dates for the next several years, but a Batman movie has yet to be part of the equation to this point. A new interview with William Morris Endeavor's co-CEOs Ari Emanuel and Patrick Whitesell may shed some light on why, given Affleck's contractual commitment to the future of the character.

He's contracted to do at least JUSTICE LEAGUE ONE and TWO, so at least three times wearing the cape... There's a script that he's written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that's out there as an option.

So right now, with BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE already on the books, Affleck is confirmed to only be signed for three instances where he's playing Batman full-force. Now, there must be options in there for him to reprise the role in other roles, given that we know he'll be making an appearance, even if only very slight in SUICIDE SQUAD. But beyond that, Warner Bros. would appear to not have Affleck locked down and secured for an individual Batman film.

There would appear to be development on a Batman movie, with Affleck having handled the writing, and, if it all comes together, you can bet Warner Bros. would jump on the prospect of Affleck helming his own idea. But at this moment, that would appear to be less than the certainty you imagined it'd be before you started reading this article.

Of course he will sign on for more movies so that's a dead issues! I see again joblo writiers taking another shot at Dc with the last few sentences of this article saying the following >>There would appear to be development on a Batman movie, with Affleck having handled the writing, and, if it all comes together, you can bet Warner Bros. would jump on the prospect of Affleck helming his own idea. Let it go already the movie is a hit you guys were wrong!! SO Ben will sign and book it with Certainty!! Every Dc article seems to have writers who want to continue taking childish shots!! Becoming annoying!

The point is, his own agency left the door open for him to walk, there was absolutely NOTHING certain about what was said. Whether you liked it or not, the movie by and large is being laughed at. Affleck has been down this road before, he needs to be able pull the rip cord (hopefully not to junkie xl's cheesy guitar riff) at any time

He stole every scene being Batman in BvS. Be interesting to see what he brings to the solo film.

I love the idea of an "Under the Red Hood" movie, but a huge aspect of that story is Jason Todd going to a more extreme style of vigilantism to spite Bruce. I feel like that won't really have much of an impact on this already extreme version of Batman that Snyder has developed.

Best part of BvS

I really hope Affleck directs his standalone Batman film, and I sure hope he goes toe-to-toe with Leto's Joker. I remember a rumor a couple months ago about them possibly adapting Under the Hood.

And please no more flashbacks of his parents dying. We've seen that 100,000,000,000,000 times already.

Batfleck was my favourite part of the flawed BvS, so I am very much looking forward to seeing him in a solo film. He could lighten up just a little though ;-)

You know, I never did catch the director's cut of Affleck's Daredevil. I've read good things about it.

I enjoyed him as Batman and would be very interested in seeing this come to fruition, I've not seen any of the films he has directed, but I understand he's a very good director. I'm not sure that I'd be interested in an origin story though. Would love to see Mr. Freeze in this cinematic universe though.

I just hope the rumors of this first solo Batman film adapting the Under the Red Hood storyline is true. Would be a nice change of pace from the previous films and we would be seeing a villain we haven't seen Batman go head to head with in on the big screen yet.

But I hope Affleck ends up writing AND directing given his very successful directorial track record. And based off his incredible performance in Dawn of Justice, I hope he wears the cowl and cape for as long as he can.

does this mean WB does not trust David S. Goyer anymore ???

considering the bashing David Goyer receives on the net, and considering how many people hated BvS, I would not be surprised they do not want to take too much risk with another story by Goyer...

I haven't seen BVS. I love Batman, I love Superman, I had Joker and Harley on my wedding cake! And yet MoS was so bad, and the trailers for BvS were so terrible, that I refused to support the next movie unless it came out with incredibly sterling reviews. And it didn't. So I haven't. Refusing to be one of those "You'll whine about it, but you'll see it anyway" types. I've spent that money on Zootopia (incredible fun) and 10 Cloverfield Lane (which is a tight, efficient treat of a movie) because

Making my stand. On my own.

I love your post, sexy! Here's the deal...eventually, you'll see it. You'll like some of it, you'll loathe parts of it. And then...you'll whine about it, just like the rest of us. Enjoy that stand while it lasts! xo

Well you're absolutely right not to see it! I'm right there with you expect I had to see the shitshow last night because I really desperately wanted to find something I liked in it. It was actually worse than I thought. Affleck and Gadot aside (both really were great), it's absolute trash! If you know DC, you'll hate it and hack synder for as long as he suckers people into letting directing movies. The best part of the whole experience was that the movie broke the projector during the pivotal, and laughable, scene that I won't spoil here. So the theater gave us a refund and we went into the next theater to watch the last 35 min or so...surprisingly the movie got worse. Don't waste your time, hate it from the comfort of your own sofa
