Ben Affleck may tackle the Black List film script American Bullshit as his next project

Since Ben Affleck continues to be the hot shit right now in Hollywood what with his excellent crime drama THE TOWN now having made about $145 million worldwide, the actor/writer/director today sits in the very enviable position of being able to pick his next project. Last we heard, he was offered a chance to direct and possibly star in the fantasy film REPLAY, about a man that relives his life over and over again.

Or will he be making something called AMERICAN BULLSHIT instead? According to Deadline, Affleck - while not yet committed to it - is apparently seriously considering it. The BULLSHIT script, ranked 8th among the Black List scripts of 2010, was written by Eric Warren Singer (THE INTERNATIONAL). The drama is described as "the true story of Abscam, the FBI's 1980 undercover sting operation of Congress to root out corruption which was the brainchild of the world's greatest con man."

Apart from AMERICAN BULLSHIT and REPLAY, Affleck is also linked to a film called THE TRADE, about infamous wife-swapping Yankee ballplayers Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich. He and broheim Casey were reportedly on board to re-write the film (with good chum Matt Damon possibly directing).

I liked both Gone and Town. Enjoyed them. But isn't there just a TAD bit of overhype on his directing ability? Just a SMIDGEON??? Blast away, if you want. Everybody seems to think 'overrated' means the same thing as 'crappy' which isn't the case. Just think he still has a LITTLE room for improvement w/ pacing or something I can't quite put my finger on . . .

After Gone Baby Gone and The Town, the man can direct/write/star in whatever he wants. If he keeps this up, I have faith that he'll have a long, successful career ahead of him.

Out of all the people to make a comeback, I am glad to see Ben Affleck make one. Have always been a fan of his.

Of those three projects, American Bullshit certainly seems the most interesting to me. At the end of the day however, I'll watch and enjoy anything the man directs.

He's more than proven himself of being a very talented writer, director and actor.

Hopefully he has a very long career in front of and especially behind the camera.
