Ben Affleck sports a nice pocket protector in new trailer for The Accountant

It wasn't really all that long ago in the grand scheme of things when seeing Ben Affleck's name attached to a film wasn't exactly something to be celebrated, but damn, Affleck has certainly turned things around over these past few years to the point where I'm genuinely excited to see what he's up to next, either in front of or behind the camera. Aside from the upcoming SUICIDE SQUAD, our next look at Ben Affleck will arrive later this year with Gavin O'Connor's THE ACCOUNTANT. Warner Bros. have released a new trailer for the film and it is continuing to look quite promising.

"Imagine the secrets this guy has."

A synopsis for THE ACCOUNTANT:

Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of-the-art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.

THE ACCOUNTANT is set to hit theaters on October 14, 2016.

No actor has surprised me more over the past decade than Affleck

When I was younger I thought that Good Will Hunting was a good display of his and Damon's respective talents: Damon shows some real dramatic chops, Affleck does serviceable but unremarkable work in a supporting role. It kind of surprised me how much Affleck blew up after Pearl Harbor, but none of his work from that era seemed to indicate that he was actually that great of an actor and in many of them he seemed pretty flat to boot devoid of the charisma he'd showcased in Armegeddon.

Then he got some seriou praise for Hollywoodland, but I thought he'd probably go the Ethan Hawke route (not that I thought he was anywhere as good as Hawke) -- once promising leading man who decides to stick mostly to the indies instead.

Then he came out with Gone Baby Gone and I was surprised along with the rest of the world and, lo and behold, in just four films (The Town, Argo, Gone Girl, and Batman v Superman) he's managed to completely rehabilitate his screen image and establish himself as both a serious dramatic actor and one of the most in-demand leading men there is. Kudos man, I was wrong.

Looks really really good!

So happy for Affleck. It's really amazing how much he has turned his career around in just a few short years. Even in Batman Vs. Superman, nobody disputed that he made for a great Batman.

So glad to see Affleck back at the top of his game again after all of his success with his directorial films and being Batman for DC. The guy deserves and has earned all the credit and success that has come towards his direction.
