Ben Stiller will be bringing you some fake movie trailers

Previews for non-existent movies have become increasingly popular in the past few years, to the point where some have been expanded to feature length.

Ben Stiller is getting serious about these satirical two-minute "money shot" collections, launching THE FAKE TRAILER PROJECT through his Red Hour production company.

Deadline says there will be at least a dozen trailers to be distributed online weekly later this year, and "among the actors and directors who'll contribute content are Stiller's TROPIC THUNDER co-writer Justin Theroux, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM scribes Tom Lennon & Ben Garant, and CLUELESS helmer Amy Heckerling."

Stiller threw a handful of amusing examples in front of TROPIC THUNDER, but he actually has a long history of parody ads dating back before he even had "The Ben Stiller Show" in the 90s -- see for yourself.

Extra Tidbit: Eli Roth had such a good time making his THANKSGIVING trailer for GRINDHOUSE, he wanted to do a feature-length assembly of similar previews called TRAILER TRASH. Doesn't seem like that's happening anymore...

This is the stuff Stiller's good at

His movie choices have become increasingly boring and repetitive (Little Fockers, Tower Heist, blah blah blah) but Stiller really excels when it comes to satires, especially shorter stuff like fake trailers. Anyone remember Die Hard 12? One of the relics of the Napster age when it took a full day to download short clips...this was on so many college kids' computers... here's a better quality link (finally!) for those who've never seen it: [link]

Looking forward to this shit! Something I

Looking forward to this shit! Something I haven't said in relation to a Stiller project in many years.

How can you say that Tower Heist will be boring if you haven't seen it...... I dismiss any comments about a flm unless you have seen it. I don't like the Ratner either, but it's just unfair.
