Please, Dear God no. I know we aren't exactly best of friends and I haven't been to church in what seems like an eternity but do I (do we) deserve this kind of punishment? Brett Ratner directing a fourth BEVERLY HILLS cop movie? Seriously? Back in 1994, I went to see a sneak preview of SPEED and afterwards they told us we could stick around and see BEVERLY HILLS COP 3 for free. And to borrow a line from whatever hacky comedian invented it, the ticket was free and I still wanted my money back. It still goes down as one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Now with KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL we've seen how hard it is to make a fourth movie. But that at least had the benefit of Steven Spielberg directing. Apparently Murphy went to Paramount pitching an idea for a fourth installment and suggested Ratner direct. No word on what shenanigans Axel Foley would find himself in this time but the mere thought of it makes my head throb. Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh on BEVERLY HILLS COP 4. Perhaps Ratner will blossom into a modern day James Cameron. Perhaps Eddie Murphy still has something besides NORBIT and MEET DAVE left in his arsenal. Perhaps. But I doubt it.

Hell, I'm up for Lethal Weapon 5!!! Bring back Murtau and Riggs!!!! Lord knows Mel could use some good press, and Danny could probably use the paycheck.

NO, NO, NO, NO NO. Even the first doesn't hold up well.
Well Ratner for one thing is very overrated for one thing & have no idea why he is so big. If you rewatch any of the BHC movies you'll see even the classic 1st one doesn't hold up too well & yes the third is a turd for sure.

Ratner attached to God of War yesterday, now BHC 4 today? Jees, it seems this guy is attached to every movie in its early stages of development.



I'm half-convinced someone (his agent? publicist?) attachs his name to all these movies completely for publicity-sake.

KC , considering Indy 4 didn't just jump a shark but a killer whale , i'm sure we'll get to see B4 jump a humpback whale , this is prob the worst idea in quite some time , the third one was not only horrendous , but i didn't even giggle mildly , not even once .



At least there was good reason to bring back Indy , and people were clamoring for at least one more installment , was....

I think there was only about 10 people that wanted a 4th one , and Murphy and Ratner are included in that total .



I'll be waiting for the Trading Places part 2 ( which would mean they are back in their original places ) and Yet another 48 hours announcements .



Somehow no matter his talent level , he's just not funny anymore , annoying but not funny , but he was perfect for the 80s .

i have wanted another Beverly Hills Cop flick for so long! And i cant wait for this to come out... as for Ratner... i got no problems with him or his directing.. i like all 3 Rush Hours for what they are.. Red Dragon was awesome... people just get off on talking shit on Directors/ Movies that make them for sheer entertainment... not everything has to be some crappy art house "FIN" movie!

As long as it's rated R and Reinhold and Ashton will both be back I'm in.



And I think Ratner is a decent choice. His Rush Hour movies are basically the same in terms of the movie's tone. Ratner will do fine.

Btw, I have 0 expectations for this movie, it'll probably be bad because Ratner is aweful and Murphy has no more edge, but if they pull it off, hats off.

Well I for one,remember when Eddie was great in the action-comedy movies that he was in back in the late 80's,early 90's.Now is a different time,but with great writers and directors Eddie could possibly get back to A-list status.It has been quiet awhile since I have went to see one of his movies.But since some other popular movies from the past are making a come back;why not BHC!!

I agree with basically everything you wrote. This movie better be R though. I'm sick of sequels randomly throwing some bullshit PG-13 rating on it to appeal to a larger crowd. Hopefully Eddie Murphy hasn't completely lost his fucking mind.

I was flipping through the channels the other night and happened upon Ratner's X3, so I thought I'd give it another chance.



And, honestly, I was really surprised: it's actually WORSE than I'd remembered...which is fairly impressive, considering I'd remembered it being a steaming pile of $#!+.

Im with Mut on this one. Unfortunately, I feel as though this movie is being released with the intent of putting butts in seats, so likely it will take an R-rated series and end it on a PG-13 rating (ie: Die Hard). This movie will suck.

I wanna know the storyline first. Beverly Hills Cop 3 wasn't that bad but wasn't that good either. The 4th installment could either reboot the franchise or just make it sink for good.

Remember when Eddie Murphy was cool? Remember when watching Coming to America was like catching a VIP pass to some really cool party? I think he really needs to fire his agent and start looking for good material. Tarantino could probably revive his career, not Ratner.

Come to think of it, Paramount should just REMAKE (or reboot, reimagine whatever etc.) Beverly Hills Cop. Just replace Murphy with Andrew Dice Clay, rewrite/revise the "Ford Fairlane" screenplay and THEN have it directed by Judd Apatow. hell yeah.

If this movie news continues, I fully expect Jackie Chan to be involved, or some other foreign actor to team with Axel Foley.

I actually like the idea of a BH4, I didn't think BH3 was all that bad despite what most people think. I still believe in Eddie Murphy and I think if he is involved in a project he actually cares about then I think he has plenty left in him. However, Brett Ratner? Immediately my interest leaves a movie once I hear the name of that wankstain and it is destined to fail. It's a shame Martin...
