Big screen Family Guy?

8 years agoby:

Family Guy At the recent TCA press tour, "Family Guy" overlord Seth McFarlane mentioned the possibility of giving the spectacularly dysfunctional Griffin family the big screen treatment. Nothing concrete is in the works and at this point McFarlane doesn't even have a story in place but he did mention a definite interest in producing a feature film somewhere down the line. The only thing he did mention about this proposed feature is that he didn't want to make it a grand, epic adventure in which the Griffin family single-handedly and presumably hilariously save the world from certain doom. Which implies he'd like to basically make it one very long episode of "Family Guy" - can any one person take that much pop culture referencing? We may find out soon enough.

Extra Tidbit: There was previously a DTDVD film starring Stewie titled FAMILY GUY PRESENTS: STEWIE GRIFFIN - THE UNTOLD STORY.

now would defintitely be a good time for a family guy. i've yet to see the simpsons movie but in my opinion the best cartoon movie was south park.

(as stewie) WATCH OR DIE !!

SETH IS A GENIUS. dont wait 20 friggin years to do a film, make it grosser than team america, up the ante in animated film. FG deserves to be on the big screen. i can easily watch 4 episodes in a row, so thats movie length right there. i see "300" type references just waiting to be spoofed.

Looks like they're trying to stealing the Simpsons thunder...

is there something going on at Fox we dont know? ( then again there's always something goin on at fox we dont know) I loved the DTD film and it was kinda of the reason why I went back to family guy....but they have to pull something off like they did the last 3 episodes of the season.

I look at Family Guy as a sketch show. Sketch shows shouldn't be movies.

Pop references are funny for about 2 minutes. The half-hour show makes me squirm and beg to leave the room of anyone who watches it. But hey, I'm not easily amused, what can I say. Best thing about the show is it gives Adam West some dough. He's earned it.

That statement seems like a popshot towards The Simpsons Movie. If it is, cool.

Meh...

...the dvd was a half-assed 90 minute episode that wasn't even very good. I'm pretty sure the movie wouldn't be any better.

I would love this...
although they already have a DTV movie, i would absolutely love a big-screen 'Family Guy' adventure.
Although the rating would b a problem; as the DTV film was r-rated(unrated, really), they would probably shoot for PG13 for this.
O well, it would still b hilarious, as the writers have the talent to keep the show continually fresh & witty.
I'd rather see this than that 'Simpsons' movie...

OH BOY!

So I can actually forward to approximately NINETY MINUTES of a half-assed storyline packed to the gills with fat guy jokes, self-conscious shock humor and weak pop culture references in the lazy form of flashbacks! COUNT ME IN!

Oooooo, and I hope Stewie says or does something a real baby would NEVER do!
