Pretty much every movie Bill Murray stars in is a must see for me. I mean, I am even willing to watch Cameron Crowe's critically annihilated ALOHA simply because Murray puts in a supporting role. But, when it comes to lead performances, Murray always does something special. Last year, it was ST VINCENT. This year, it could be ROCK THE KASBAH.

Written by Murray's friend Mitch Glazer (SCROOGED, Magic City) and directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson, ROCKY THE KASBAH sounds like it could be one of those feel good comedy-dramas that becomes a breakout hit. We have a look at the first poster below courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

“Rock The Kasbah” is the story of Richie Lanz, a rock manager with a golden ear and a taste for talent, who has seen better times. When he takes his last remaining client on a USO tour of Afghanistan, she gets cold feet and leaves him penniless and without his passport in Kabul. While trying to find his way home, Richie befriends a band of misfits and discovers a young girl with an extraordinary voice. Against all odds, Richie will take his last shot at creating an unlikely superstar.

While you cannot argue with the presence Bill Murray brings to every role he stars in, the stellar supporting cast that includes Bruce Willis, Zooey Deschanel, Scott Caan, Danny McBride and Kate Hudson should make this a must see this fall. Stay tuned tomorrow for the premiere of the full trailer.

ROCK THE KASBAH opens in theaters on October 23rd.

Hopefully this film is closer to his 80's films in terms of humor. I miss the Bill Murray of the 80's.Films like Scrooged, Caddy Shack, and even Quick Change were great!

If Zooey plays that unlikely singer then I'm all for it. I love She & Him and when she played the unlikely singer in Elf her voice was amazing. I love her.

Been looking forward to this one. It sounds great and should be another nice project for the always brilliant Murray.
