Bill Nighy may star as the villain in Stuart Beattie’s I, Frankenstein

This is appropriate, I guess.

Stuart Beattie, known primarily as a screenwriter (story credit on the first three PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films, G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA, COLLATERAL), is directing an adaption of I, FRANKENSTEIN based off the graphic novel by Kevin Grevioux… one of the co-creators of the UNDERWORLD franchise. That should tell you all you need to know about this new take on Frankenstein.

So of course, with all those connections in place, Variety is reporting that fan fave Bill Nighy (UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION, UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS) is in negotiations to play the film’s villain – “a demon prince” – opposite Aaron Eckhart’s ‘Adam’, “Frankenstein’s monster who is being hunted by demons that want to learn the secret of his creation in order to build an army of reanimated corpse demons.” Corpse. Demons. Wut?

Also joining the mix is Australian actor Socratis Otto (what a name!) who will be playing Nighy’s demon goon, tasked with tracking down and capturing Adam.

I, FRANKENSTEIN is currently scheduled to start shooting in January and is looking to be released on February 23, 2013.
