Bill Skarsgard says IT deleted scene featured him without clown makeup

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It was just last week we let you guys know that WB/New Line's new plan is to let STEPHEN KING'S IT director Andres Muschietti edit together a Director's Cut for Blu-ray & DVD with 15mins of new footage.

Today we have a bit of news on what (might) be on said IT: DIRECTOR'S CUT, including a scene where Pennywise (played by Bill Skarsgard) plays the clown before the entity known as IT attaches itself to his form. And it sounds like an utter blast, which by the way, isn't in the book. Sure Richie and Mike see IT arrive in a smoke-hole flashback/vision but this sounds quite a bit different.

Bill Skarsgard on IT deleted scene:

There was a scene we shot that was a flashback from the 1600s, before Pennywise [was Pennywise]. The scene turned out really, really disturbing. And I’m not the clown. I look more like myself. It’s very disturbing, and sort of a backstory for what It is, or where Pennywise came from. That might be something worth exploring in the second one. The idea is the ‘It’ entity was dormant for thousands and thousands of years. The [flashback] scene hints on that.

Hopefully, we'll see this scene in the director cut, or better yet, in IT: CHAPTER 2 up on the big screen! What do you think of this deleted scene? Make sure to let us know in the new comments section below or by hitting us up on social media on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

IT synopsis:

A group of young kids faces their biggest fears when they seek answers to the disappearance of children in their hometown of Derry, Maine. They square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

IT is directed by Andrés Muschietti from a script by Chase Palmer & Cary Joji Fukunaga and Gray Dauberman, based on the novel by Stephen King.

The film stars Jaeden Lieberher, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Wyatt Oleff, Jack Dylan Grazer, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, Nicholas Hamilton, Owen Teague, Javier Botet, Steven Williams, and Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

IT is now playing in theaters nationwide!
